You have nothing to fear, but cube itself.... apparently.

The more I watch my MW4 Days unfold into mech packs the more excited for this nostalgia I get. ^^

Instead of what is good for the game. Which players anyway? I bet any 10 players would have 10 different opinions. Look what giving the players what they want has done to mwo.

Anyway, im sure those STs will be just fine in game. So long as you dont put anything explosive in there....

The ones who actually pay for things, I'd wager.

Provided its a mechpack they can sell as opposed to monthly maps, constructive cw, or gameplay

I'm not an IS player so I'm not sure why this 100 ton mech has any value outside of Solaris? It runs 48 kph and will never get to the fight before the fight is over?

I played this mech in the previous MW istallments and I'm not sure it has any value outside of Solaris....

What am I missing?

Well, I used to boat 2 or 3 ERPPC + 2 Gauss (or Hgauss, dun remeber) and was one of the few mechs that can do that in MW4. Now, I know that isn't possible anymore in MW5, but back in MW4, that was pretty much the most devastating pinpoint combo. You 2 Hit KO any mech you come across, right into the CT.

You can say the same about the Annihilator, but the Annihilator has stupendous (for IS) firepower and the armor to hold a position against multiple opponents or push on a position itself. A single Annihilator can make a lesser firing squad crumble. The speed is annoying, but in the situations you want this 'Mech not all that important.

The Fafnir doesn't quite have the firepower options and it remains to be seen whether or not it gets the durability.

Looks pretty close to those designs that Microsoft did when they were drawing the Fafnir for MW4 Mercs. Looking forward to seeing that slowpoke mech on the field once more.

It's going to keep the Annihilator company?

FEAR NOTHING...

except for fast lights, lights with stealth armor, arty/air strikes, fast mediums, clan tech gigaspike alphas, the Direstar, extremely rainy weather, FINISHING THE LIST OFF... with the most feared thing among assault pilots.... tiny pebbles.

I get they were going for something catchy to try to sell you the packs, but let's be honest here.

its just another is fatmech.

im not a fan of its hardpoint config. it doesnt have the distributed ballistic points that the annihilator has which would have made it better. if it compensates this with a larger engine cap that would be better, however the fafnir isnt supposed to be fast. you do have one set of ballistics at roughly cockpit level. idk where the second set will go on the fnr 5 and 5e. the 6u is going to have lower and wider spread ballistics and will be one of the weaker builds. the high points might put it in more of a kodiak-ish role but without the speed to make it as powerful.

there are very few novel hardpoint configurations remaining and even fewer practical ones. perhaps an is mech with a dozen energy hardpoints. we need to start doing some is omnis to give us something new. im not very hard pressed to find a mech in my hanger that can do the fafnir's job without actually buying the mechpack. i can surely wait four months.

The quad-ballistic variants will do the dual 10+5 UAC/30 build okayish

The 5B will run a 63-point Gauss-vomit alpha okayish and it will, of course, have the 75-point HGauss-vomit version too.

Most of them can fall back to 3x ERLL and double Gauss for sniping if nothing else works.

The missile versions are screwed.

All of them are screwed on geo if nothing gets done to mitigate that. The hardpoint locations mean pretty much nothing due to that geo, and even then it has to be agile enough to poke.
