Do you have CBills? You could buy one of the Linebacker variants for CBills, see if you like it (it's an Omnimech, so go nuts), then make the purchase if you like it. You can also buy the MCII for CBills, just remember it's a Battlemech, so no pod swapping. I know the MCII's run between 12.5 Mil and 14.5 Mil, not sure about the Linebackers.

If you play Faction, a MCII eats up 40% of your allowed tonnage, where as the Linebacker uses about 28%.

Agent1190 I am horrificly short on C-Bills and no longer play CW. I have eaten through 56 million C-Bills in 2 weeks creating new weapons packages for a Stalker-M,Stalker-"C",2 Cataphracts, one Supernova Broiler, and a Black Widow Warhammer. I thought I could buy the Linebacker or Madcat MK2 standard pack+Hero omni and use the next 100+ days to refill the threadbare coffers.

Linebacker is great in FP. Uses much less tonnage than MCII so you can bring more of it. MCII is great, but the dakka variant, which is really popular in FP, is not in the basic pack, and 90 tons is a big investment. MCII is far superior in QP though.

if you're going to buy from the website, you have to ask yourself if you want the standard pack and 30 days active premium time + hero for $35 or collector pack with 60 days active premium time for $40. both options will have a mech with 30% c-bill bonus but for $5 more you get the extra premium time.

I purchased the Timberwolf Warrant hero well before the skill tree and engine decouple from agility and it was a very fun mech then. It was still an easy target, had no bonus durability, and no ability to reduce the oversized 375 XL down to something more reasonable so that a better weapons payload could be taken. It did have the same agility as the Ebon Jaguar at that time however so you could do rolling pokes easily and it handled well enough to have fun.

Do. Not. Buy. It. Now. It still retains negative quirks on some of the omnipods, it still is an easy target, it still has no bonus durability, no way to reduce the engine, and now has the same agility as an 85 ton Warhawk. To say there are better choices for a mech you could run in its place is an understatement.

Edit - if you're curious as to how big a deal with the mech being both an easy target from its profile + no bonus durability being a part of the mech, consider the following to put it into better perspective. The 55 ton IS Bushwacker with a 2/3 survival skill tree choice will have MORE armor on its locations than the Timber Wolf.

For now I will be purchasing the Standard Pack Linebacker&Hero. I am also thinking about the Stalker FB for it's ECM, plus I like Stalkers. I am also considering the Thunderbolt Mastery Bundle in the future.

The Linebacker can be very tanky if you use the Omnipods with the least number hard points.

i.e.
Linebacker Prime gets bonus Armor on arms, CT and STs.
Linebacker B does NOT get armor on the Left Arm (it has 2E instead of 1E)
Linebacker C does NOT get Armor bonus on Left Torso (3E hard points)

These are not set of 8 quirks, you don't lose them by mixing and matching.

Get creative - it's a great mech in a fight.
