but if we can see the grid we can tell other team his spot so we don't have to tie up 11 drop decks while he is being stupid and hiding just to waste time

And you folks are exactly why they don't do this... Something about "Griefing > Assisting The Enemy" and "Griefing > Team Killing" on your parts? Also, they might be trying to earn a certain "Low Health" Achievement. Or perhaps, they're trying to wait for the right time to pop out and catch an enemy in the back alone. Worst case, they're just trying to learn how to survive in a bad situation in order to do better in the next match. Any which way, you folks would be thinking you have some god-given right to take all of that away from them WHEN YOU DO NOT. Get over yourselves and understand that there's going to be some delayed finishes, and you're just going to have to change mechs for a match and move on when you don't want to wait. Don't hurt other players' experiences just over wanting one stupid mech unlocked... IT'S A DAMNED GAME, AND OTHER PEOPLE DON'T PLAY EXACTLY THE SAME WAY AS YOU!!!

Sorry dude, there's no valid reason for that. You are suggesting that someone (who in all likelihood is trying to preserve their precious KDR) has more of a right to not engage the enemy IN A GAME ABOUT FIGHTING ROBOTS than the other 23 people have to actually playing the game. It's unsportsmanly as hell, and in no way does "lol it's just a game" forgive it.

Its annoying to spectate, but you have to know the context. Every time I've had to do it its to answer the door, and I've never failed to have people raging at me when I return.

Calling out their grid is weak though, even if they are in the wrong.

This would be non-participation, which is against the CoC, I believe. Report them and be done with it. What's this thread for?

Shutting down to hide temporarily or to break target lock is one thing, but doing so to avoid a death is another. I’m all for playing ‘possum if injured and soon-to-be-found by someone faster or bigger than me. Heck, shutting down mid-jump is also useful if it prevents taking a fatal LRM rain to vulnerable components.

Look, it’s discourteous to drag out a match because you don’t want the inevitable to happen, and most would prefer you stand up and take it honorably. Unfortunately, it’s a game, and not everyone is going to be considerate of that.

Not enough information. But if the last mech is hiding/shutdown and no longer actively fighting at range, like a ERLL Raven/Cheetah/etc, is called non-participation, and usually pertains to Skirmish or if you are the defender on Siege. AFAIK all other modes have other avenues to complete the drop, iirc. That should be reported.

Shutting Down your ‘Mech or avoiding engagements with the enemy, and when doing so might be considered non-participation

All pilots have access to a Shutdown command for their ‘Mechs, mapped by default to the ‘P’ key and listed as ‘Toggle Power’ in the keyboard menu.

The primary benefit to shutting down your ‘Mech is that it will no longer appear on enemy radar. In the deciding moments of a close match with few ‘Mechs left standing on the battlefield, effective use of the shutdown mechanic and/or evasion tactics has the potential to provide you with the following benefits:

Breaking a target lock
Appearing ‘heat neutral’ on maps where Thermal Vision might commonly be used
Presenting on opportunity for staging an ambush
Evading detection long enough to secure a win through Conquest points
Evading detection long enough to secure a timer expiration win when you have superior numbers, in circumstances where you may be too critically damaged to otherwise risk a direct engagement with the enemy
The above situations are considered to be within the scope of what the shutdown mechanic or evasion tactics are intended to be used for.

There are situations that do not fall within the scope of what the shutdown mechanic or evasion tactics are intended for. The use of the shutdown mechanic or avoiding contact with the enemy under the following situations may be classed as an act of non-participation, subject to evaluation and moderation actions by Support services:

Ceasing to meaningfully contribute for the remainder of the match if you still have support equipment, useful modules, or weapons (with any necessary ammo) available. Losing your primary weapon is not an acceptable excuse for hiding and/or shutting down if you still have a secondary weapon, a support-based item such as a TAG, or a consumable module available for use.

Running out the clock, or needlessly extending the duration of the match, in cases where doing so will not assist you towards victory.

Running out the clock or needlessly extending the duration of a Faction Play match in an attempt to keep a particular group or Unit in the current engagement for as long as possible, in cases where doing so will not assist you towards victory, is not considered an acceptable tactic.
Disliking a map or game mode or attempting to preserve a player statistic such as Kill/Death Ratio are not acceptable excuses for non-participation.

Engaging in any of the following actions while using PGI services is forbidden:
Willfully or repeatedly assisting the enemy.

Everything you need to know.

How many times does it need to be said that it has nothing to do with KDR?

It's about making the enemy earn that last kill. No one is under any obligation to report for execution.

Finally, there was a very good reason why people argued a long time ago -- and obviously to no avail -- that a TDM mode was a really really really really really really really really really really really bad idea. Very few listened. So eat what you (i.e. the player base) have sown.

Drop in another Mech.

Oh! Do you have a favorite Mech you absolutely cannot do without? Then go get a spare or two. I and others do.
