It can go 145.8kph untweaked, so it should be okay. It also has plenty of torso hardpoints so it can leave the arms unarmoured to fit a good amount of weapons.

Personally I think the main problem is going to be people trying to fill all the weapon hardpoints instead of putting in the right weapons for their playstyle and no more.

I'll be honest it was 50/50. It was going to be a troll post because of the nature of the thread, but some things do ring true lol. Gonna have fun annihilating these little buggers!

What a blatant misinterprestation of my intentions.

If you're a tall assault or a heavy and if enemy Piranha hugs your legs, it is all over for ya unless you pack a lot of firepower in your arms.

Or you have teammates around. Just use the "Enemy Spotted" command and the Piranha will probably gain quite some attention... Posted Image

I wish it always worked that way. There's a certain COM-2D pilot I see from time to time who can generate jaw-dropping damage in a match. At his most successful, he waits until there's 2 or 3 heavies or assaults fighting and then back stabs them. He will hug the legs of one of them, positioning himself so his target is between himself and the others. You can try to move up on him, but he will keep rotating around his target while the rest of his team shoots you in the back.

I've seen a single SRM commando take out 2 70+ ton 'mechs, and then joyfully bound off to do it again.

Ah, the vagaries of the PUG.

There will be praise by people who fortunately drop against potatoes and wreck face. And there will be the rage from guys dropping against foes that can actually aim. This mech caters to people who wait and let others do the work to reap the kills.

Who needs to aim when my Pahket has 8xCSSRM6's :P

Piranha allows Clanners to frontload 5 more tons in FP. It is gonna be a very popular FP mech, with 10 DPS (as much as IS Heavy) on a 20 ton frame.

This assumes PGI hasn't nerf'd what it couid be weeks before release and what the Clans will have is another "almost" mech. It's why most of us aren't playing on a regular basis anymore.

Unless they massively screw up agility, its going to be fine. Not a game breaker, but ok. It'll have its place in FP, for obvious reason, and it will function adequately in QP.

PGI already preemptively nerfed MGs in the December patch, so there will not be any additional nerfs. Besides it is a 20 ton mech so the chassis itself will not have any negative quirks to it, and PGI will certainly not risk any pre-order cancellations. Finally, there is zero bad Clan battlemech ever since their launch. And Piranha is Clan battlemech, combining best of both worlds.

Yes thats how MGs are designed in this game, as there is no infantry. You wait untill the armor is breached.

That sounds good but I'm not sure I share your confidence. If the mech proves to be decisive, as the much larger Night Gyr, they will degrade agility because they've already eaten the MG boating concept... Agility is the decisive measure of greatness: it's Move, Shoot and Communicate in the real world and Move is what they've historically taken to reneder great mechs into obsolescence.

huh, would have expected a better reception considering the MLX/ACH-E.

Given thats its a 20tonner, I gather it'll have agility to reflect as such not as good as the Locust, possibly Osiris level?(pure speculation)

Its skinny and will probably be pretty short, so everyone will scream that its hitboxes are broken(ACH, ASN).

I mean I didn't pick one up(waiting on agility values), but I don't think I'll be DOA given the Locust and Commando are plenty viable... and both are known to be able to carry a team(still, even today). Its just most people cannot and or do not know how to drive them.

In truth I'll probably buy them, but the queues are going to be pretty miserable for a while since...welll...streak boats will be making a showing...I myself will also partake in some streak action on some lights...

lol its going to get messy out there

Anyway, DOA, no, skill/hard to play, probably.

I am not worried much about agility on a face staring/leg humping mech.

Its pretty much a given that the piranha will be oversized and have the agility of a medium.

I wouldnt count on it

I expect ghost heat will be added to machine guns

Something like 8+ machine guns will start to generate ghost heat

PGI would be foolish to allow a mech to do 15 dps without generating heat. Even if its only a 20 tonner.

To put that into perspective, an Atlas cant even sustain 15 dps without overheating.
