I have a question, but first a confession to make: Sometimes I take a shot when I know some of it will hit a team mate. My usual match team damage is like 10 or 15 - not much - but I know it's going to their back or arms, and yes, I also know that this behavior is the worst of cancers and that god will banish me to the deepest layers of hell for this. I'm not here to defend or explain my behavior, just to observe that it exists.

Since I also happen to have a conscience, I am curious to know:

How much team damage is too much?

(I have prepared myself for the army of people who say that any amount is too much, that I am the worst of cancers, etc).

Never can have too much...at least on a win.

In our fairly care free unit, we occasionally have been known to inadvertently target each other ;) as well accidentally drop air strikes a wee bit too carelessly. I believe that the record for single person team damage is around 750. That was not too much, because we won. It also make the inevitable 2 minute or whatever time out go faster as we mercilessly mock whomever caused the delay with their excesses.

To answer the gist of your real question: don’t sweat the small stuff. Most of us do a little, at least on occasion and unless it becomes habitual to the point of causing drop delays or TKs, who really cares?

I try to keep my team damage as low as possible, it usually hovers between 15 and 40 in QP games... I'd like 0, but I can't control idiots walking into my laser beams....

Edit:

I'd like to add, that I've had one of my Locust on the receiving end of the "Must test muh weaponz" at the start of the match... needless to say, it's the only time I've had a match time of 0:01....

If you are using high damage PPFLD weapons like Gauss, AC/10/20, or (ER)PPC, then it's particularly wasteful to land those shots on your teammates.

Did you kill your teammate walking into your firing lane?

If the answer is no, then you didn't cross the line of too much damage.

I mean it depends on many things but it especially hurts to know when you are packing dual boom, for example, then seeing that you did a big team damage on the stat screen at the end.

My favorite thing is when someone decides that I've found a good position to shoot from, walks in front of me to take shots, then receives the full brunt of the alpha strike that was intended for me as I'm retreating out.

Good job, johhny come lately! Good job.

usually more than 1 or 2 points means that you've landed some damage on allies, so just try to not get over 3 points worth, and if you're getting 1 and 2 each match try a bit better on your early game positioning to not walk into allies or be in the path of bad drivers.

In QP, if it is over 20 then it is too much. 50 ish for FP.
