I was very pleased to see the recent announcement of a new map, not that long after the last one. If they can keep making a map per month it will be very cool, as a MechWarrior game should have a lot of variety map-wise.
So I thought of starting a thread for people to post ideas for maps, not sure if there's already a similar thread, if so my appologies.
So here's my first idea:
A moderately wide and very long map, set in a large canyon, arid climate, not much vegetation, possible river in the middle;
Elevated regions in the canyon wall for jump capable mechs to jump to, enough features and details to provide some cover spots near the middle, weather feature providing random sand storms or something;
A map more suited for long range engagements, scout mechs jumping to high ground to spot mechs behind cover and fire from above, fire support mechs raining missiles from behind cover after aquiring targets spoted by the scouts, long range hunters providing supressive fire and brawlers moving from cover to cover until engaging at close range.

I'd like to see a barren moon type map, with craters etc to hide/jump on or in.

I just think that they need to make the maps larger, essencially at present the maps currently are only big enough for a single objective. On a different note it would be nice to have a map with some deep water, so that it is a barrier to non jump mechs, unless by a ford (not visible but with some visual clues say, so that the ford has to be searched for).

I would like to see a large scale Swamp/Gatorbait type map, complete with both night/day choices as well as a weather selection option to be played in rain,snow,or simply heavy fog conditions.I would hope they would include weather selection and night/day options with each map they do include in full release to really test our judgment under different types visibility.

I know it has been at least hinted at... but a large scale Urban map would be cool for close quarters combat. Use a night time setting to give night vision a go and matybe 3 capture points on said map... attackers must capture these points (alpha beta gamma) while defenders hold off at least 1 point before time expires. Or could just be a good 'ol fashioned team deathmatch brawl. Never anything wrong with that!
