Easy stormcrow legs but i bet i'll see so many streakboats. I wish i had 60 ton drop decks so i can facehug with dragons and have 2 ac20 rifleman to mess with the Hunchback IIcs

UAC/2 Dragon would have a more consistant range profile, while still being very dangerous (In the right hands, its a high skill mech).

The only other 60 tonner worth considering is probably the IV-4, since it can carry MRMs so well.

ok this may be just me but that dragon.. is so easy to kill/combat ineffective. Just shoot for the (side) torso and bang one less mech to worry about. I don't think I would take it in scouting. Even as a support mech is a bad idea. You would be creating a 3v4 brawl for your fellows in the drop.

Why assume the Dragon is XL? It doesn't need to be.

Especially in scouting, where the ammo burden is so low. The ones purpose built would be STD.

It's not really all that hard to use, you only have to worry about the jamming but yeah It's very strong and would practically outclass the bushwhacker because x3 uac2s will be enough to out trade clan mechs and they will lose tons of armor before they even get close and it has as much armor as a 80 tonner

If the Dragon can keep itself from being attacked from multiple directions (Not impossible, since scouting involves a lot of grouping up action), it can be easier to just drill through to the CT. It can be really hard to reliably hit that arm when its blocking with its nose.

scout mode shouldnt allow heavies

and it shouldnt allow 4 mediums

scout mode should require 2 mediums and 2 lights

That would be what the trick addresses. The Dragon can essentially fire its gun sideways, blocking all but the smallest part of its gun arm with its nose while still being able to shoot the enemy.

then I just chain fire while you try to cover the arm with all your weps in it. Then when you turn I fire all but 1 of the weps not o. Cooldown...

Steiner should be hard locked to stock AS7-Ds for scouting, it would make scouting infinitely more interesting and give the faction some flavour.

Now can 95% of the population do either of these "tricks"? Debatable. But any mech that has all it's eggs in one basket is asking for trouble. I've ran into this Dragon build in FP a few times. If they are left alone (any mech with a decent pilot realy) will put down a lot of hurt. But SOP for seeing this mech is take out the arm and leave them. It's easier than legging.

Turn off armlock. Position your mech so that your torso is twisted left to the maximum. Now aim left with your unlocked arm. Your arm is now buried inside your body and is effectively unhittable while you can still fire effectively at everything on your left side. It doesn't matter if you can aim, your arm is clipping inside your body and the hitboxes of your CT and side torsos cover over the hitbox for the arm.

Its less about him not knowing (I didn't know), and more about my annoyance at people who quote earlier posts, without bothering to reach the end of the chain.

I probably could have put a bit more focus on that bit, but typing on a phone in-between classes is not working out for me.

It does work, I'm afraid. Can most people pull it off? No, that's why I said, at least once in this thread, that it's high skill. It's hard. I sold my DRG-5N because I couldn't get my head or hands around it. But plenty of other people have.

I'm refrain form re-explaining the mechanics, since Verilligo already has.

It's a misconception that the Steiner Scouting Lance is made up of Atlases. The Zeus is the actually Steiner scout. Gotta go fast and all.
