Ok, H Gauss did need a range boost. With its massive weight (and terrible ammo/t thus even more weighty), something needed to help make it better than an AC20.
But that does not change that these little micro pulses area farce. My new strategy is for any moment where I think I should use a micro pulse, I will put a flamer there instead. When the flamer is better than a laser weapon, I think you done ****** up that laser weapon.

you mean the range advantage PGI gradually keeps taking away on every clan weapon?
I mean its understandable why clan weapons have to have their range reduced. MPL for example was too good at midrange. Although the heat on the MPL is way too high now.
but to say its still a clan advantage is funny

well like I said theyre battle armor/protomech weapons
theyre not really mech weapons
most clan mechs dont have enough hardpoints to use the sheer number they would need and even then the ghost heat limit on micro lasers is silly.

HG did need a range boost. But it needed a damage decrease too. And probably a ghost heat limit of 1.
It shouldve just used the improved heavy gauss profile instead.

That is only true because of ghost heat on dual AC20 builds. Otherwise, the HG is a waste of tonnage. Put differently, unless you run two of them on a mech with lots of weight, the weapon belongs in the trash heap.
