seriously.

quickplay is NO fun and it has not been for several months.
it is
12:4, 12:3, 12:2, 12:1, 12:0
all day, all the time. no matter the servers, no matter which mech you're in. no matter your own performance.

you're either on the 12 side, or on the 0-4 side. exciting and close games, which we had in the past, are long gone.
even those 'alright' games we had plenty of half a year ago are gone.

something needs to be done!

pgi, have a look into your matchmaker. have a look into the "data" it works on.
and please do it fast. this is not a rage-post or something, but it's been boiling for months now and things just get worse every day.
to the point where I really have no fun playing QP at all, and I'd rather use my time on something else. and I know I'm not alone with this.

do something, and do it fast.

Its not because of matchmaker. It is because of core game design and no changes to MM will fix that. Your team has pool of HP and poll of potential damage.
The first three mechs to die distract their hp and dmg from both those pools and it goes downhill from there. Dont be the first to die and take favorable trades, that's the best you can do.

I was complaining about this the other night and everyone in my unit was in agreement. Quickplay has become a terrible place. I've been solo'ing with a K/D of ~1.7 ish and have a .68 W/L. Something is very wrong with match quality and last night i went and did laundry instead of playing more.

For me it seems more like the MM is just prone to long streaks. A while ago I had something like a 13-game losing streak, all except for the last one were complete blowouts. Dropped my overall W/L from 1.19 to 1.18 in that single session.

But then I went on a winning streak the next day, with a mix of a few stomps and a few close games. I don't know how long that winning streak was but it brought my W/L up to 1.20 over the course of that session, so it must have been longer than the losing streak.

But of course we remember the losing streaks more than the winning streak... as evidenced by how I can tell you exactly how long my losing streak was, but don't remember the length of the winning streak. XD

MM isn't just an issue, here, get some pretty terrible match ups in other FPS I play.

Doesn't excuse it, of course, I'm just highlighting that it's not just this game with match maker issues

Pick a good mech and make some difference in Solo-Q. My MCII-B currently has 8:1 WLR, 24:1 KDR, and 1078 average damage per match--all in Solo-Q. I aint complaining.

Its because of the massive differences in firepower the mechs have.

Losing 1 assault is devastating to your total DPS potential. Losing a Light Mech isn't as damaging.

So losing heavier mechs makes the game snowball. Then even if an enemy is super low it doesn't matter because you get focus fired down. I've survived games in light mechs with a red torso, no arms, open legs, and a missing side torso, because once its 6:2 the remaining 8 of my teammates only have to focus their fire on 6 enemies all of who don't often peak out at once.

POTATO LAND is not a wonderful place

You can fully expect 5 player fail to deal 200 damage, which means you'll need to get 1000+ to make up for them

With all the Piranhas out there, I was frequently seeing 7 Terribad plays on my team.
I'll just avoid POTATO LAND for a week...I don't need that extra salt (nor does the game, for that matter)

His badge seems to indicate he at least has the collectors pack of the MCII. Probably has that variant since it is available for CBills now. Maybe he is already trying his best to CARRY HARDER. Maybe that is the best he can do in top performing mechs.

Took a look at his standing on Jarl’s list. Is that T2 level of performance? How about having him join you with MS so your group can help him be a better pilot?

(MS) welcomes most players as long as they listen to orders, but we are FP heavy unit. FP doesn't even have MM, and requires mechs and builds that are different from QP. If OP is still willing, then he should send me a friend invite, or PM.

guys, no offense, but the point you discuss and the point I -try- to make are 2 different things.

this post is about the games in general being -that- onesided for months now, and at least in my memory it was different before.
today it's kind of a coin-toss at the beginning of the match; and it doesn't (seem to) matter if I do 0 kills - or seven (though in that case at least it's not a 12:3 ^^)

this post is about wanting good and close games again, where both sides try to do their best.
atm it's always one side rolling and the other side hiding. all the frikkin time.
to me, it's no fun being on either side of such a boring match.

It was. Before 12v12 we had close games and duels of heavily crippled mechs in the end. Since nothing been heard of switching back to 8v8 lately, I guess we're not seeing it again.

Not to derail the thread, but what is a T2 performance, look at my stats, is that T1? I'm like 79th percentile, i'm literally the definition of second tier in a five tier system, yet here i am stuck in T1 with you lot. Anywho i've been in plenty of close games and plenty of stomps, but whenever one team gets an advantage regardless of the matchup it can pretty much finish the game, and that advantage can be anything, rather than a kill it can be someone trying out that lrm awesome against a bunch of guys who like to sit at 100m.....

as for the OP, my memory is that the games are no different now than a year ago, people are salty, people bring bad builds and a small advantage snowballs, its been that way throughout the entire T5-T1 journey, which despite my average performance has only taken a little over a year.

Which begs another question, is it too easy to increase pilot skill.....

You said your -B stats were pure solo. Hmmm...guess nobody in MS willing to work with him doing some two man drops with his MCII’s.

You are correct. To recap what happened: It was mentioned, by someone at the highest level, that they were thinking of going back to 8v8, and it would be able to be done at “the flick of a switch.” Almost immediately a whole bunch of sales on older chassis were announced. Then...nothing. Not even that is was no longer being considered.

Hmmmm.....

The thing with QP is that you're playing against your own team in a way. You have to be just as aware of what your team is doing as the enemy. One second you're pushing in force. The next everyone broke like sheep because the lead guy got hit with dual AC20s and panicked. Which of course caused everyone to bump into each other. Which in turn caused everyone to seek cover. And you're the one dumb guy that didn't get the memo and are now being pelted by four enemies.

I play like the enemy are all Clanners with better equipment, my team are all Clan Davrat, and I'm the only Liao. That's how you play QP, that's how you survive! (Which is feckin almost never to be honest lol )

I dont agree with that.

You have to consider several factors. Time of day (earing kids in VOIP after school), current events (had very good laughs seeing some opponents trying to kill my Kodiak with machine guns head on on that event), the winning conditions (I hate Escort and usually use that scenario to explore the map - also dont like Incursion), map (hate ice maps - turn into lrms/sniper fests very quickly), mood (sometimes Im a team player sometimes Im a lone ranger), mech used (my cbill printing machine is a KDK 3 but sometimes enjoy using other mechs), disconnections (most games the side with a player disconnected looses), awareness of whos playing and so on...

I had some very organized teams that end loosing and some free for all teams that end winning. There are bad runs (it happens sometimes - I just pause for a couple of minutes and get back into the game with other mech class).

Having said that I prefer 12vs12 because is more forgiving when someone makes a mistake (or a player disconnects).

ive known for some time that the qp experience is terrible. pugging in fp is a lot more fun for me but i dont play that either because wait times. so ive mostly just been doing events only. i mostly blame the bubbleup mechanic for making people who dont belong in t1 play t1s.

i actually miss the old days of gaming where you could just join a server and play the other players who wanted to play on that server. if that server was too hard or too easy you could find another server that you liked. matchmakers have become the bane of internet gaming. i dont like them at all.

This here is the very core of what triggers the 12-0 land slides.

What happens is someone get's unlucky/lucky or out right messes up or plays brilliantly (depending on perspective) an early kill lead is gained and the momentum carries through to a landslide win for the team that gains the early advantage.

This however is not a forgone conclusion however. A team that is down in numbers can still leverage a victory but they need to adapt to the new circumstances they are now facing by being short handed.

The issue is quick play puggie teams are not good at recognizing these circumstances or even knowing how to adapt and play differently. Many players whouldn't know thing one about switching tactics mid game to compensate for a disadvantaged circumstance.

I watched a player sniping with his 2 ERL in a shadcat I believe.
Zoomed in and aiming with his joy stick it would seem.
Totally missing every other shot.
When he realized he was the last mech he started to reposition.
Good good he can get a few more hits in just maybe.
Or so I thought.
He then starts shooting into the ground trying to overheat himself.
He failed which was good.
Yeah it ain't the game.

People keep harkening back to some golden age where we had close games and not so many stomps. When was this? I'd like to know. Because I surely don't remember it. MWO has always been like this.
