Hello all.

Just wanted to say hi and introduce myself. Been a fan of the BattleTech universe for a while, starting back in the 80's with the 2nd edition board game... yeah, I'm telling my age a little bit. Then got into the PC games in the 90's with MechWarrior 2 series and then 3 and 4 in the 2000s.

I started playing MWO on Monday for the first time and am already "addicted." I probably would have started playing MWO sooner but RL and all that, and I was already playing World of Tanks; so, my gameplay time was limited. Don't play WoTs anymore. Spent over 5 years with the game and most everyone I knew doesn't play anymore or as so often the case cannot play as often due to RL. Still casually play World of Warships.

Thanks to @Nightmare1 for the guide for new players as well as the YouTube vids by @Sean Lang. Also found Fat4Eyes tactics comics very helpful; although, I have found teamwork in QP to be sporadic, which is to be expected in random battles... used to that from other F2P games I've played.

Anybody else who is new to the game I highly recommend taking the time to read through all the great info and watch the videos provided in @Nightmare1's guide. For me, even though I am familiar with Mech combat and MWO has similarities to the classic MW PC games of yore, there are some subtle differences. Plus, it had been awhile since I had dropped in a mech in combat. I also recommend completing the tutorial and academy. While it is tempting to just jump into right into the fire in a QP match, I think taking the time to read the new player help guides and watch the vids makes your first matches more enjoyable.

But I'm still a bumbling newb. I just know enough to be dangerous as they say, and not necessarily in a good way, lol.

Anyway, see you on the battlefield. Cheers! Posted Image

Well said. Welcome to the community.

If you stick to QP its easy to play this game casually. Though consistency builds experience and skill. Which you need an abundance of in QP if you're to make the best of losses as well as wins.

I hope you'll enjoy your time in the battlefield with us. I look forward to seeing you there and possibly destroying you in the process :)

Welcome. I'd also recommend Baradul's youtube chanel - Molten Metal. I've found his commentary to be really helpful to my Noob self.

Good luck and have fun, as they say.

Welcome to the family!

Your not alone in your BattleTech history - where a lot of us came from.

Keep dropping, keep learning, keep having fun!

When your ready for the next step, find yourself a group of like minded pilots and join up with them. Get yourself Teamspeak if don't have it already, it will be a necessity later. When the time comes, seek out one of the many free Faction Teamspeak Hubs and get ready to attack or defend the Inner Sphere!

o7

Welcome aboard!
