Let me be concise. Things have gotten so far in the 'meh' range that I have been actively looking for a new 'primary' game. As a avid fan and whale who has been very free with their disposable income, that should worry PGI.

Speaking of different game, I must say you all folks should play Subnautica, seriously.

You won't be disappointed.

the only skill nodes that should actually exist are ones that are actual choices.

Namely?

I don't mean to take a jab at you, but most Skill Nodes are so very obviously suited or unsuited for a given build that I hardly ever feel like I'm making a meaningful choice.

Build A benefits from Nodes X, Y and Z so you take that and dump the rest of the points into survival (and Auxilliary for improved consumables, because the return on investment on those nodes is absurd). It's incredibly formulaic.

Absolutely not a game I can enjoy playing myself, but damn, I love watching Subnautica as a Let's Play for some reason.

While my clan laservomit builds got nerfed across the board, i feel the nerf a lot more on my ppc builds, even with maxed out heatgen and cool run nodes. Idk, if it's about the engagement time or my general overly agressive gameplay.
Honestly, all this new additions and balancing changes don't actually add up to make the game more enjoyable in my book.
Not feeling like playing IS imo. Guess i came back at a wrong time to play mwo again.

I'm with you neb. I've been trying to find a new game also, but there is nothing that fills the MWO style of game play. I really just want them to fix the game. So I will want to play again. I'm not optimistic.

I started playing this game one year ago. Since then PGI somehow managed to make this game worse and worse with each patch. Posted Image

Now imagine founders' bitterness, 5 years waiting for game to get better, but it stays mediocre or gets worse.. And we, fools, still suggesting suggestions how to fix it all... Posted Image Posted Image Posted Image

...I need urgent Urbanmech therapy.

Sometimes, you just have to let things you don't enjoy go. After months of playing Eternal Crusade, praying it would get better, I finally quit, and I was much happier for it. I don't get my fun WH40K kick anymore (Space Hulk Deathwing's update is soon™ and therefore not all that attractive atm) but I am having a better time because I stopped trying to squeeze water from a rock.

Another big problem for me is I probably hate something like 3/4 of the maps in the game.

Terra Therma, Caustic Valley, Polar, Viridian Bog, Crimson, Alpine, pretty much never fun.

Frozen City, River City, Canyon Network, Tourmaline, and Grim Plexus are... tolerable but often frustrating.

I think HPG Manifold and Mining Collective might be the only maps I actually like overall.

Doesn't help that the old Forest and Frozen were more enjoyable

They removed good content, for mediocre content
That's not how this is supposed to go...

Part of the issue, I think, is that some maps somehow manage to always bring out the worst behaviour in many players. I don't know why, but there's no map people NASCAR as hard on as they do on HPG, for example.

Caustic is by far the most Nascar-y of all the maps.

What's also funny is I hate some of the maps for opposite reasons.

Viridian Bog: my team somehow always ends up clustered behind a single piece of cover and surrounded, despite the abundance of other pieces of cover. Map is too cluttered, constantly running into things that are off-screen and having shots blocked by ghost hitboxes.

Polar: map is way too wide open, team always ends up scattered even when told to move as a group, and once the enemy decides to focus you there's nothing you can do about it, because you don't have enough teammates nearby to deter pursuit and the next piece of cover is 600m away.

I still play MWO once in a while but its now a secondary game to me. I don't find it toxic enough to separate from it completely but I don't find it deeply fun but most importantly addicting enough to play more than a few games. Each game leaves me that "is that it?" feeling. War Thunder I hardly login anymore, and World of Warships I still login once in a while but I dislike some of the maps in the game --- Wargaming's obsession with corridor fighting --- as they reduce your tactical options, and I also don't like the pacing and the weird ideas they use for balancing. But the ship models in the game are incredible and they keep getting better each year.

I spend more and more time playing games in my tablet, especially War Robots and Nintendo's Fire Emblem Heroes, though these are not the only ones. In addition I also play Pokemon Go in my smartphone. I can't say I have a primary game right now, I do miss having a primary game. War Robots manages to satisfy my mech fix, in many ways you wish MWO plays like this, plus its seriously fun and addicting, but as I creep up, on higher leagues becomes more pay to keep up and pay to win (not like I don't already have a super hanger of my own). Other games are full of summoning gachas and are only recommended if you are into waifu collecting.

I am thinking of getting Monster Hunter World as it looks fabulous and I am familiar with this game's format. Unfortunately I can also expect it to be quite grindy as typical of this game's format.

Planetside 2 just went through a HUGE balance change between vehicles and infantry, and also made a HUGE change to how continents are concurred, so things are a real mess currently. But one of the reasons I stick with that game is owner is willing to spend a lot of money to make big changes to keep the game alive.

Squad is awesome for infantry combat. It has all the strategy and teamwork that I wished MWO had. Really if PGI just copied their game mode then CW would be a hit.

Arma 3 is a little crazy. They have everything from PvE milsim, to zombie survival PvP, to a Halo or Star Wars recreation. With the mods the players have created you can make that game anything you want. The difficult part is finding the right server to fit you, or it's incredibly easy and relatively cheap to start your own server.

If there is one thing that PGI absolutely must deliver on at all costs in MW5, it's definitely mod support.

Because if their handling of MWO is any indication, their best bet is to adopt the Bethesda business model: release buggy, unfinished singleplayer games that a rabid fanbase will proceed to mod into GOTY material.

Yeah. I call it "Caustic Valley Speedway." But the revamp did make it better and harder to run in circles.

And hats off to the OP. That's a video Russ and the Balance Lords should be forced to watch over and over again, Roddy McDowall "A Clockwork Orange" style.

I am seriously considering getting Battle of Titans when they make a full global release which hopefully adds a few more mech designs and maps. Even if I have to buy an iPad for it.

I fully agree. But while the narcissistic control freaks are in charge I dough mod support will ever happen the way it should. {sigh}

Yes. agreed. People have been asking for a ticket based gamemode in MWO since before squad even existed.

A ticket based gamemode fixes so many of the problems with MWO's gameplay. MWLL opted to go that route. PGI shouldve just copied MWLL.

Conquest with respawns is one of the only fun gamemodes in faction play. And a ticket based gamemode would be an extension of that. capturing points would just bleed enemy tickets instead of giving you points.
