I'd love for PGI to remove the GR+PPC Ghost heat linkage, but I do not see them ever doing that.

Perhaps they'd settle instead for a half measure; drop the ghost heat linkage on IS side only. IS Gauss and PPC's are worse across the board, and poptarting with both of these weapon systems on the IS side has not been a thing since Dragon Slayer days. This would allow the heavier and bulkier IS equipment on the few mechs that carry 2 GR + PPC or 2 PPC + Gauss, to actually have an advantage with these weapon systems over the clam, besides being ever so slightly slower to explode when hit. Furthermore, this would allow a buff that does not interfere with lore interpreted values such as tonnage and crit slots.

Edit: added missing word.

Oh boy, the Clan boys are gonna be all over this threat Posted Image

I, for one, don't disagree. Considering the weight of IS Gausses and Peepers, there's not gonna be a poptaring Heavy like the NTG and the NSR is the only 'Mech able to do 2x Gauss 2x PPC on the IS sight, right? That thing could use the help.

probably so :) I play mechs on both sides of the equation, and while I miss having the capability these two IS weapon systems could use a buff.

Seeing how things would pan out if the cap was increased to 3 would be fair, but allowing the old cap of 4 is simply not reasonable. 50 PPFLD at 660+ meters is just too much.

Before you say it, no the Deathstrike with Gauss/laser vomit is not the baseline. It is far above the baseline. Bringing everything up to that level would finally make the forumwarrior fear of "Call of Duty with mechs" finally come true for once. The raw alpha strike damage on certain Clan weapons needs to come down, either by direct nerfs (e.g. 6 damage CERML) or more Ghost Heat linkages.

You won't catch me trying to buff anything up to the DeathStrikes level, that would simply just add more powercreep. I do like your suggestion of 3 max (for IS only though). Not like there is many IS mechs that can even use that combo well. But the few that can, could use the buff.
