I once team killed a Mechwarrior who was very noisy calling shot, who focus fire on or whatever only to find out he was in an assault hiding far away from the main battle.

say what, lol, he was just waiting till you guys had em all wounded and he was gonna come out and clean house. You spoiled that.

And of course, you can't even trust good information when it comes in, because it's impossible to sort from the garbage. I can't count how many times I've heard over VOIP "Hey, X mech is isolated, lets get him," only to find out that X isn't isolated at all, but is in fact part of a fairly substantial firing line.

OH, that was me, lol sorry, I've done that a handful of time. "Fox5 Fox5, he is all alone lets get em boys" "oh ****, Belay that, he has three other mechs with him, oh **** I'm dead"

Bombast, you are a salty SOB.

He actually is showing some pretty good insight, and it is true that unless you are in a tight formation calling the shots, not every one will be seeing the same targets as you. Certain pilots have good battle field awareness and are naturals at leading the team, but they are few and far between.

You know, reading this thread I just think there should be an elitist douche tag on the forums.

Damn, that was harsh. I don't think anyone in here is that bad, just differences in opinion and good insight from all the points of view.

Come on, Bombast needs a group hug..... Us potatoes must have finally overclocked his sense of humor....

I played in a match with him yesterday, on the opposing team and I dogged him with LRM's till he popped......I didn't get the kill cause someone stole it.......I bet he was fit to be tied on frozen because his QP "team" stole a defeat from the jaws of victory....

imagine if there was a requirement for someone to take leadership on each game and after the game you rate them.
leaders would come out of the woodwork.

Hahaha.

I remember way back before MWO was anything playable, reading the concepts and ideas. This was the mental image that I built, that Lance and Company Leaders where individuals that would attain that position by rank and experience, rather than button press. That they would be necessary and irreplaceable, that combat successes would be severely limited by the loss of such an individual. That they would be absolutely critical to the communication, direction, composure and effectiveness of a combat force.

Oh how wrong I was.

I played exactly one match yesterday.

While it ended ok, it was not as fun as one may think. We were down by 1-4 for most of the match and there was a lot of snarling on my part about people refusing to engage and trying to run away to the edges of the map for no discernible reason.

I assume you mean...

From three days ago.

As someone who's had a severe brain injury, I suggest seeing a doctor. Losing days is not a good sign.

While using VOIP can be helpful (though I've had plenty of matches where two or more people are arguing at each other while everyone else is trying to play the match), I'm fine with the radial menu.

If you know how to use the radial menu and know what it means when certain radial menu commands are used, it can be just as effective. When someone does a 'target spotted' on a light out in the flank it's just to give the team a heads up that it's there, and if you're a light or fast medium feel free to go out and intercept him. If you're in a push and 'target spotted' comes up on one of the big mechs in their group, shoot that mech first and keep shooting it until it goes down.

If you're static (or nascaring) and see 'need assistance' come from someone on the side (or back), that person thinks the enemy is pushing them from that flank (or their nascar is picking off the end stragglers) so reposition to set up a firing line while the guy who made the command tries to retreat. If you see 'need assistance' from a mech that is walking forward, it means he's pushing so follow him into the enemy line.

If you get a radial or VOIP command that you understand and intend to follow, use the radial menu and say 'affirmative' so the guy who's pushing or yelling for assistance knows you're going to help with his action.

People dont listen that is the long and short of it, or they just dont want to listen for whatever reason, funnily enough I thought as I went up in tiers that the quality of player would get better, I was wrong, they are the same kinds of players except they also have a sense of self entitlement due to being tier 1 etc. its quite funny.
