4xSRM ASN-21s beat clan heavies (and just about everything else) to a pulp in 1vs1.
If you're not satisfied with the top IS mediums, you don't want to touch the clan mediums with a stick : Mediums are an IS specialty.

My Vindicator with 225xl, mrm40 triple lmg an twin ermed is still one of my best medium mech. But i don't hunt light with it. Lot's of medium are not able to hunt light anymore and that's the main problem. Normally medium are made to crush light. A streak crow is a light terminator. But now i use the majority of my medium to hunt Heavies.

It can still do work, almost every mech can, but the point is that it's a pale imitation of what it once was. These mechs used to be fun to pilot, but now they're sluggish pigs. They're worse than the old Quickdraws, which is something.

Yeah i see your point, for some, you cannot play them like before but it's a lot worse with the assault...

Overall with all the mechs I've run since the desync I personally vastly prefer how the majority of them move before I even put any points into the mobility tree.
They all just feel more real in how they move.

Think most are saying this argument could be brought upon any weight class as meta and power creep hit hit all mechs to some degree. As assault brawlers dead as torso twisting is lost tech, lights are just mobile bullet dispensers on crack the list goes on. Balance is needed but that takes time unlike weapon balances, as they are large broad strokes over the entire IS/ clan line. Also re balances don't pay out nearly as well as new mechs so it gets lower priority

Now, if all the other IS mediums could be brought up close to its performance ability so it wasn't the blatant, obvious choice, we'd be on to something.
Clan have choices of the Huntsman, Hunchback IIC, Nova, and Stormcrow as solid picks while the ice ferret & viper sort of stand around looking stupid after the massive small pulse laser nerf. But I guess we have to wait like another 8 months or some other demented time span until the situation is reviewed.
Bushwacker is about the only one and Assassin.. the rest are now just hot garbage.. like worse smaller heavy mechs that play poorly..
Even my Enforcers feel sluggish and bad.. Blackjacks too are really sluggish..

Just got to get used to running Dire Wolves or even better, Kodiak-3s, after a hundred matches in those things nothing will feel sluggish.

Why don't you go compare an Uziel to a Roughneck and end this thread? Also I fail to see why you created a second topiyour Shadowhawk thread was sufficient.
Why not. You ppl whine about mimimi weapons are too strong pls nerf over and over and over again in a thousan threads.
i at least whine about something actually relevant. Mediums are waaaaay too slugish. Most of them. Why not bring that relevant topic up again and again.
And Ill continue to do just that. I hope youre okay with that mister. if not, then jsut dont post in my threads. Jsut ignore my threads then cause I wont stop to say what I think is relevant. No matter how much you complain about.

I feel like the Cicada is one of the better medium mechs (at least as far as IS mediums go). It's so fun, I play my 2A(C) every time I play MWO.
I haven't played any of my Jenners in a long time, however I don't feel like they would be quite as fun (as durable or as easy to sustain firepower).
In any case, the Cicada is one of the very few Mediums I currently play.

I can not disagree more with the OP. Mediums are in a kind of sweet spot of agility/firepower/speed. But only if you actually use your agility and speed. If you only use 1 or 2 of the 3 legs then yea, you're gonna fail hard and mediums aren't going to look as capable as they actually are.
Not saying all mediums are tier 1 mechs or automatically better than Heavies, but there are plenty of Mediums that are extremely capable for different reasons, just as there are Heavies and Assaults. Lights have extremely capable mechs too, perhaps just fewer due to smaller possible payloads so there's less variation due that simple fact. I have a number of mediums along with Heavies and Assault in my top 10 mechs by both win rate and KDR. Meanign they can influence matches positively and measurably as well as get kills and survive matches.

How do you use them? I can't hunt lights in mine, and they are under-hardpointed for bigger targets. Guess I could try some of the new weapons on them.

Essentially I run a slightly modified Cicada 2A(C)...
http://mwo.smurfy-ne...ea4c8ff523e1600
I have changed the MLasers to ER MLasers and that is about it. I make sure to concentrate on mobility and energy skills, with a dab of durability. The ER's are a tiny bit hotter than the regular MLasers in this build, but I prefer the range.
I then stay mobile and poke (over hills, around obstructions, etc...). As soon as I crest a hill and fire, I am already backing down it. The large engine means it is fast and very nimble, so when poking and moving, it changes direction fast and stays hard to hit. The 6 MLasers may not sound like much, but the damage piles up and kills are secured

It is a very fun build for me.
