So the Thunderbolt hero the Top Dog is on sale!
Is it good?
I can see the possible loadouts bút do the hitboxes hold up?
Thank you!

Thunderbolts are super solid hitbox-wise, easy to spread damage across.

Top Dog in particular is a pretty good choice since you have hardpoints almost even on the left and right, best used with a STD engine for maximum tankiness.

Stock TOP DOG

I've never been much of a Thunderbolt pilot, so I've got no advice on it.

Yes. 8MPL build is great. I also enjoyed 6ML and HPPC (in the arm...purely for aesthetics) for awhile. And of course any combo of LL and ERML or LPLs even, are also doable and enjoyable.

I agree. Very solid mech overall. What it lacks in offensive quirks, it makes up for a solid chassis with very solid defensive quirks. I run mine primarily with 8 mpl. It gets toasty but the pin point is fantastic

LL/ERML.

Good mech, good build. Nice and tanky.

TOP DOG is one of those underrated mechs, probably partly because it's not quite meta but certainly just by hair's width and because it's a hero and thus not eligible for comp matches, with an STD + Ferro + Endo you can put 6 ML and 2LPL and be an sturdy solid damage dealer. while using all your weight and your slots, something that usually indicates optimized builds.

TopDog is one of my favorite mechs. Good survivability and hardpoint location. I plan on picking up another one at some point.

As IS Heavies go, it's one of the better ones.

I just bought the 9S I'm liking it so far.
First 2 games went like 560, 1 kill(3LLs and 3MLs), 700, 3 kills(3LLs and 3ERMLs)

Also considering how boxy it is i'm surprised it can tank damage the way it is.

It's very compact. If you stare, it won't tank, but if you move, it will tank for days.

The structure quirks probably have something to do with it.

Is it really? My IS heavy lineup lately has consisted of Marauders mostly, and I'm also the hipster that kinda likes the Thanatos...

Old schools...

Now a days the young'ins get to run it a bit faster with the LFE. Also save weight with large layzors due to the lg pulse being trash.

If you want to do IS laser vomit, it's up there with the WHM and the GHR IMHO. I suppose the MAD-BH2 is a contender for the absolute top of the IS Heavy heap and also does poke, though the rest do entirely different things.

I'm pretty underwhelmed with IS laser vomit in general. Not enough damage or range, and not heat efficient enough to make up for it. If I go IS, I go PPC/dakka
