[Angus McFife VI]

Hello everyone,

I always for the most part appreciated the great art design of most of the battlemechs in MWO, but there are certainly some that are prettier than others. So, I would like everyone to post in their opinion, what mech they think looks the best and which one they think looks the worst.

The best looking: For me the best looking mech has to be the Atlas. Awesome skull face, huge side torso ballistic, looks amazing.




And for the worst: Dude come on, really, this thing looks absolutely disgusting. Look at those tiny arms and gigantic, fat shoulders, skinny *** legs and HUGE dome-head. It's disgusting... Not even mentioning the LRM variant....

I actually dig the Night Gyr, looks best with two guns in each arm, always reminds me of a terran marine from star craft.

Atlas is a sexy beast, I'd agree one of the best.

I think Trebuchets are the fugliest.

The Night Gyr looks like it has a diaper. Definitely ugly. The Uziel challenges it for the title of ugliest though.

Shadow Cat, Ebon Jaguar and Nightstar are some of the best looking 'mechs IMO. Cougar would be too if the legs weren't so long in proportion to the upper body. It just looks weird.

Bushwacker is also really cool looking. It looks like what it is. A tractor with guns on it.

Still say the Black Knight despite its evocation of Power Rangers and Transformers is nevertheless one of the most aesthetically pleasing of mechs. I’ve always found the symmetry of the Catapult and a few others to also be very appealing. The most viscerally bad a$$ looking mech is I think the King Crab with the Centurion right behind it (thing just look tough).

The ugliest has got to be the Executioner (an Easter Island Moai in a cowl grafted onto a mech) or maybe the Gargoyle with the Cataphract and Enforcer tying for third.

Hunchback IIc is probably the silliest looking regardless of how effective those high hardpoints might be, also the Awsome with PPC breasts or the loyalty Victor with its big “guns” can always bring a smirk (80 ton death machines should not make one smirk).


Edit: Oh and thanks OP for guiding us to appreciating what this game is all about: mechporn. Its appreciation is a nice distraction form the balance debate and other chaos dominating the forums of late.

In my opinion, best look has to go to the King Crab and its younger sibling the crab. They're very well done mechs.

Worst.. the Javelin. So freakin' ugly. And its animation compounds the issue with how stiffly it bounces.. Ice Ferret is ugly, but at least it has good animation.

I like both catapults, the straight and the confused one. =)

But for the worst one… probably the Javelin.

The javelin walks very oddly but I do also agree, the crab is one of the best looking mechs in the game, with amazing hitboxes too. javelin walks it's it's skipping around, it's weird. Then it's got those long, lanky arms and a big fat chest. Gross.

I also quite like the Arctic Wolf, Warhammer, Cougar and Phoenix Hawk.

Worst... Well, Storm Crows, Summoners, Warhawks, Direwolfs... They're all up there. But THE ugliest Mech in MWO, to me, is the Quickdraw. Boring, uninspired, squashed and the paint looks terrible. Just all around god awful.

Best: Supernova, Mad Cat Mk. II

Worst: Always hated the Kintaro, I don't even own one because I can't stand the look. I think its the only chassis I don't own that is available for C-bills... Honorable mention to the King Crab for its herp derp animation.

Yeah, same for the TBR and a few other Mechs. They really need their missile geometry to look their best. Like TDRs and SMNs.

I think from the side it looks good but then when it looks right at you, yes, it's exactly as you've described. Also when you go into third person and look at it's arm/shoulder joints... disgusting.

In terms of the best, either Black Knight or Vindicator. They've got some pretty sweet long-barrel arms that actually look like they've got heavy energy weapons in, rather than just having a bit duct-taped on.

Kintaro. Worst 'mech in the game, gets even uglier the more weapons you equip. Seriously, take the one that has two energy in the arm, they stack out sideways. The missile hardpoints just grow all over the place like bad tumors. The hardpoints on paper made me interested in buying, but the looks have kept me FAAAR away- and it's old enough that it'll never change, either.
