Don't clump up and you will see that strikes are becoming much less of a problem.
There even is an old saying:

Strike me once, shame on you. Strike me twice, shame on me!
But i agree that the frequency of strikes is a bit high, i think an increased cooldown between strikes would be better for the game.

We were kind of trapped between the building of frozen city, because if you tried to run you’d get a 72 point laser alpha from around the corner.

You've scratched the surface of the solution to your problem in you description.
Don't clump up.
No one strikes a single, moving mech except in special circumstances.
If I drop one and get good high order hits and no one moves, im droping another and calling in strikes from my team.
I'll go many matches not dropping air/arty strikes, but if the opportunity presents, well...
What you're saying is tantamount to saying "don't alpha me in the head while I'm standing still."
Not gonna happen.

I hate consumables in all forms. Cool shots only add to our current laser vomit meta. I can fire and keep firing when I shouldn't be able to. Cool shots are ridiculously good. Airstrikes are also stupid good. The length of terrain the cover is so long you can easily place them where the enemy can't see them, then watch the fireworks. UAVs win games, although they at least can be countered by simply shooting them down. You can't shoot down airstrikes(or at least it's not practical) and you can't blow an enemy mech's cool shot off.

Bad positioning, is bad positioning...
This is not a reflection on air/arty strikes.

So you were trapped by the enemy who then unleashed everything they had on you.
What was the problem again?

Nah! Air strikes were definitely at fault.

You can't evade that 72 pts alpha forever, all it does is giving initiative to the enemy team. And in QP initiative and momentum wins, not who deals 72 dmg first. So your team should have been aggressive and push out of the trap together, maybe even towards the lurking 72pts alpha mech.
Sure, he gets to shoot once. But since you know that this will happen, you (or your fellow assault / heavy) can easily spread that damage by twisting.
And then he has to flee or your team will overrun him. Additionally while he is shooting, several mechs on your team can probably shoot back and turn this into a positive trade or even a kill.
The problem in your case was not the strikes, it was lack of movement. Just get on comms next time. After receiving the first two strikes most teams should be smart enough to follow you if you order them to rush out the trap...

So, I do admit that there was really bad positioning. We kind of tried to start a firing line, but it flopped badly. A Hunchie IIC tried to peek while a Nightstar was retreating, so the Nightstar got his face melted because he couldn’t move. That’s Tier 4 magic for you.

That "tactic" is precisely what airstrikes were designed to counter - flush a bunch of enemy mechs when they hide behind a single piece of cover.
There is a lesson to learn from this, and it is not "there's too many airstrikes".

F2 for arm lock and F3 for 3PV.
W rebound to full throttle of course.
