When we got to vote for the Community-Picked Trial-Mechs, it started at January 14 2017. Now it's Feb 14 2018, we're still not being asked for our trial mechs.

Be smarter to update most of the trails with bad builds and update them with new tech and builds.

People still use trial mechs? The only use of them really was you got to keep xp on it and use it for when you bought your own mech. Grind out the trial mech until you had the c-bills then you'd have some xp for it but that was removed last time I ran a trial. Pgi cares about the npe as much as a donut seller worrying he'll run out of stock at a cop convention.

It'd be nice if people built the new Trials with an eye towards newbies in mind.

AMS on everything. They don't know what missiles are.
Not cutting it close on cooling? Newbies don't know proper fire control either.
LFE or Clan XL. So they don't just explode losing a side torso, but don't end up in something deliberately made too slow.

That was, they get to play with the current generation of weapons and equipment as well. Trials are noticeably behind at this point.

I just hope that new trial mechs will contain at least one LRM boat representative for either side.. Last trial mech selection didn't give the clans a single LRM boat..

That's for the best. New players have no idea how to properly play LRM Boats, and they become dead weight when they sit out at 900m and shoot missiles into buildings while demanding the team hold locks for them. The Stalker wasn't exactly a good choice, but at least it had backup weapons.

Also, they already announced what the new Trial mechs will be.

agree on much of that. i remember they tried to ultra-meta trials once and it caused an npe problem. new players didnt know how to manage the heat of high alphas and ended up blowing themselves up.

whats needed are easy mode mechs that will get results, be very heat neutral, and provide effective firepower. good armor values, plenty of rear ct armor on assaults (because i own locusts). also essential to fit into speed brackets. no assaults slower than 60kph, no lights slower than 120kph, with heavies and mediums splitting the difference.

loadout wise you need sustainable firepower. maximum of 2 distinct weapons system (excluding things like synergistically matched lasers or similar velocity projectile weapons which are meant to be fired together). maximum of one homing weapon (i remember when i started using the trial catapult from way back when which had lerms and streaks, and that was terrible). for one so they can fire right now, and secondly so they dont come to rely on the crutch of the dedicated missile boat. plenty of ammo plenty of sinks. try to avoid hard to use weapons like gauss, or iffy weapons like uacs. scatter weapons like lbs and mrms are ok because their aim isnt going to be great and some damage is better than missing entirely with a 50 point alpha promptly followed by overheating and exploding. they need to be completely idiot proof.
