Add a 3rd option to pre-game voting: Disable Consumables

Or even easier... use WSAD hacks.

Make them take a slot and ton per use.
They'd be reasonably fine if they had an actual cost to the loadout.

What I would do is have a piece of equipment that you place in any hard point. Make it universal but it needs a hard point and make it 0.5 tons which acts like a TAG. Point and arty away. consumables are something for nothing. Jump jets need to be on the mech to use JJ tree, ECM needs to be equipped to use ECM tree, need to add armor in order to get bonus from survival tree, and so on. You get my point. Right now its free unskilled damage.

All the apologists are out in force make everyone feel stupid for not liking losing 6-9% off their mechs armor in a consumable.

I forgot - "iterative changes"
Step 1. Create an item called Air Strike. 1 Slot, 1 Ton, 1 Shot.
Step 2. Add it to the game, have its code target the air strike command.
Step 3. Create an item called Artillery Strike. 1 Slot, 1 Ton, 1 Shot.
Step 4. Add it to the game, have its code target the artillery strike command.
Step 5. Create an item called Coolant Flush. 1 Slot, 1 Ton, 1 Shot.
Step 6. Add it to the game, have its code target the coolant flush command.
Step 7. Create an item called UAV Drone. 1 Slot, 1 Ton, 1 Shot.
Step 8. Add it to the game, have its code target the uav drone command.
Steps beyond this -
1. Repeat 1-8 to transition the MC counterparts over, or just highlight them on the weapon table and hit delete because they were a terrible idea in the first place.
2. Keep repeating with other option because now you have a system in place that lets you add more and keep them in relative balance with the rest of the tech and weaponry available.
3. You "might" have to add a couple lines of code to the mechlab to read the item caps that are adjusted in the skill nodes.
You could do this over the next 8-16 months, that's half to a single table row's worth of work over the course of a month + around 10-20 characters of coding a month for the mechlab (you'll have to average that out out, unfortunately that would need to be done upfront). Should be totally manageable even at Paul's desired pace of development.

Lol this topic again.
Don't bunch up to tight.
Keep an eye open for red smoke and planes.
Put some armour on your head and back.
Have a cup of concrete and harden up.

This is going to sound really weird, but i use IJKL and the Eyeball Mk I targeting system. Sometimes the Sixth Sense skill will go off when i'm spotted so i don't try to make my movements too obvious as to avoid such things.
Crazy i know, to think that common things will help you survive longer.

I've seen a piranha lose 100% to an Art strike..
Remove them completely.. Its the only way to be sure.
