The OP of this thread is wrong, but for the love of the Immortal God Emperor please don't try to balance the game off of CW play. CW has always been considered absolutely irrelevant to balance (by reasonable people at least) because of its design differences from the rest of the game.

I beg to differ;

you can run ANY nonsense in QP and get away with it; hell, chances are good there are quite a few builds in your match which are worse.
you can't do that in fw.

You can try to argue for balance off of competitive play if you want, but CW isn't competitive. It's quite the opposite.

No, but there are CW units that take mechlab and objective performance seriously. CW also features pure IS v Clan play and real optimized builds. QP favors all-around performance because map/mode are not known when you drop. 90% of my CW mechs are built specifically for certain maps and modes.

I dont think anyone can argue for balancing off competitive play anymore. Not after seeing that community proposal which wouldve ruined the game. PGI had the sense to reject it though; or at least reject the worst parts of it. There were some good changes in it, but the good changes were mostly just a smokescreen for their real agenda of trying to increase the skill ceiling so the disparity between comp players and non-comp players was even greater.

The point is the game should not be balanced for any one group of players. It needs to be balanced so that everyone can still have fun regardless of skill level.

Because its very possible to have a balanced game that also isnt fun. Like nerfing the Kodiak's agility might have made it balanced. But its so unfun now that no one wants to use it. What was the point of that?

As if balancing off of CW would be any better than that...

Oh I agree. I dont think any one group of players should get to dictate balance for all the other groups.

I think every group of players has valuable input. But it needs to be filtered properly. And PGI seems to understand that if nothing else.

people here claim that laser vomiting is a thing people do that in MWO, i yet have to see prove of this.

in my games only thing that exist are PPC, Guass and SRMs, people fit some lasers to combo with gauss why loss dps when they use it as backup weapon but overall not a single vomit build being played.

Lasers.
to much heat, not enough range, not enough DPS, to long face time, location revealer.
overall lasers are bad really really bad and are being over nerfed by PGI.

so when you are ready to go serious go Gauss

Something tells me you've not seen my cougar...

More like PGI wants to do what it wants to do. And occasionally their wants match with that of the playerbase. Posted Image

It's reigned supreme since PGI killed UACs with jams and PPC+Gauss
PPC Gauss was the natural counter to Lasers

That, and agility nerfs buffed lasers, since you can't twist as well

Might the fact that the leader boards show you haven't played since season 15 have anything to do with that?

Played a match on the 27th of December, didn't see any vomit then either.

Trust me, play more and you will see it.
Hell, about a third of the mechs in the game can run little else, and it is a better option for most mechs that can run something else.

Laser vomit is as ubiquitous as an assault mech discoing at the beginning of a match, or getting Alpine when you decide to bring an Atlas out of mothballs. Its an everyday, common, so prevalent that maybe you don't even notice it, part of the game.

A (one, single, not plural) match means you have seen everything the game has to offer after not playing for 14 seasons...right.

Youtube doesn't convert Shadowplay videos well.
