Balance Podcast Paul V Chris

Yes, we need to keep time to kill up, but we can do that without making all the weapons spiral in a cycle of trash.
15-23 minutes Chris is a great commodity. The only guy focusing on balance and something Paul cannot do. Paul doesn't play as often as Chris and says "I do have Chris on a very tight leash". You micro change your way to that level, and you can't pull back. This is Chris's area of expertise and he has years as a game dev. He has to listen to business decisions, we don't know the repercussions of each decision. 'I make him pull back on changes' ~basically "I don't want him upsetting the apple cart"
if you had test servers you could figure out whether or not things work before they go live. If you upped the amount of times you patched in a month it wouldn't be this obscenely slow drip feed. Micro changes make sense but only if you make them more than once a month and you can ALWAYS pull back on a change, obviously. I've seen a hundred games make more drastic changes than this game and survive and I've seen them pull back on them too. I've seen successful games make LARGE changes all the time, like LoL. They will rework a champion and adjust 10 or 15 others in various ways and they didn't start out as a huge company, yes they are one now but they didn't start huge and they have been making big balance updates since I played the beta.
Sometimes you can't always take multiple months to make changes. This is what is so frustrating. Look how many years it took to get a flamer worth taking? Look at how long it took to get armor quirks on mechs that desperately need them.
Take the reins off of Chris, make more changes in a month, open the test server up and give us rewards for testing things, let us keep the cBills that we earn there or something like that.

Wallets, Its slow and only so effective when a game is on steam, with a constant flow of t5s who stay just long enough to buy a few mech packs and leave. But its our only real option as showcased by the community's recent attempt to open a dialog and reason with pgi.

I highly doubt this game is getting constant flow of t5s.
Only recently PGI basically gave away 2 free hero mechs then sleeping players came back... But I am not so sure how this recently restored population will hold.

Solaris pack's a joke.

I had to buy a Piranha pack though, otherwise my FP deck won't be optimized. Sun Spider pack is also pretty tempting, as Clans do not have a good generalist 70 tonner.

Get on steam and tell the story honestly in the review section. Perosnally i dont think i have ever been quite so angry and insulted by a game or its developers ever and i would be happy to see this fall on its face.

You know, I'll do this right now. I will given an equal amount of sentence space to the things I like about about MWO, and why PGI as a development company drags it down. Off I go.

TTK is still not where they want it, and from what this shining bright star of PGI had to say, you can bet that means they will eventually get around to nerfing everything.
The latest small laser nerf (which hardly is in use) is just a sign of what is to come.
Really loved how he dismissed the issues with engine desync as players just not being used to it. Never does he address what has been said over and over that the mobility being stripped away has completely screwed over mechs like the Night Gyr. Players don't hate it because they are not used to it, they hate it now because you can't play it any longer with how miserable it handles.
Love to be a fly on the wall and hear why they think the Atlas is fine, and the only decent assault is the Anni. Love to hear what they thought about assault brawling being dead.
Actually no I wouldn't, I don't think I can take much more of this abject stupidity.

Balance up all those positive reviews talking about how the game goes from strength to strength only gets better and you should definately spend your money. The people who love the new changes have been busy.

probably wouldve worked better if comp players didnt try to shove an obvious agenda down everyones throats.
they shouldve just stuck to the changes that everyone agreed with, like buffing small lasers, increasing autocannon ammo, decreasing UAC jam chance... etc..., then the community couldve reached a consensus
instead the community became even more divided over the PPC/Gauss issue.

What is the point of employing an, as Paul himself calls Chris, a person with years of experience, that plays the game, that is the only person working on balance full time, if he's kept on a leash, by someone that isn't hardly playing the game.
Let the man do his job, I mean he can't make a worse job of what's happening, because surely if he will, then he shouldn't hold the position in the first place
Can He ?

More power to him. While i may not like him due to a decision he made which made me leave the FRR unit i was in and went clan, i'll hear what he has to say. We need to start somewhere though.
Though again i'm feeling somewhat a sense of deja vu.
