Also would it be any different from Oceanic (which is on Singapore AFAIK)?

Going to move the Singapore server to Sydney and see how it goes.
If it isn't any better/doesn't get used more then it will go back to Singapore.
It should mean pretty good pings for the east coast, given that the NA server is usually better than Oceanic at the moment.
West coast might not be any better.
It would be interesting to see how much of a difference it makes for players in the islands.

Everyone wins having the server in Sydney. A great deal of Australians actually get NA quality ping's (240+) because of traffic routing issues connecting to Singapore. So its like having 2 NA servers for half of the population of Australia.
Also great tune at the end.

And US EU and Asians might not like it as it puts their pings up by 150ms

What wasn't confirmed is a date, just that the trial is 'coming soon'.
Not sure what the purpose is either this far down the track. Not as if it's going to bring the 100s of players in that are needed to actually fix the obscene wait times during the Oceanic phase.

NOOOOO! That means the current 97 ping Oceanic server will become 300+ ping for me. Doesn't SEA region have more players than Aussies + Kiwis?

MUAH HA HA HAAAA, maybe our intrepid European and American brethren can tick it every now and again to see how us poor chumps play.
Sweet.

With HSR etc.
Whether I am playing with 100ms to Oceanic or 300ms+ to EU - I really can't tell that much of a difference. Sometime when trying to drop a strike/coolshot it's a tad delayed but otherwise, it's nowhere near as bad as many claim is the "reason" they are not good.

I'm east coast US, and I don't use the Oceanic server at all (I have it unchecked). Mad props to the dedicated Aussie players that play with 300+ ping, I don't know how you do it. Maybe I'm just spoiled? But I get ping of 30-40 to NA, and around 110 to EU.
Anyway, I wager most US & Canadian players don't use the Oceanic server at all, doubt EU players use it, either. Maybe Russian players? Some of them might be far enough East to make the Oceanic a better option than NA.
