The thing about rockets is that they're better vs internals than armor. More of a finisher weapon, especially when your other stuff is on cooldown.

160 damage opening move can be pretty great too, assuming that it hits. If you have a 50% hit rate then you at least get an advantage 50% of the time.

+1 here consumables gone in one mode helps for future modes to have them removed, pointless no skill items.

Well there's not much point in taking them anyway in a 1v1 or 2v2 small battle. In a larger scale 8v8 or 12v12 it makes more sense to have them for the endurance. I doubt they'll be removed in other modes unless they want to refund people for every consumable owned/spent. It's just there as a minor C-Bill sink, choice is yours to use them or not... but don't get mad when you get beat by someone who does use them. Call it a crutch if you will, but a win is a win.

I dont think its a good idea. It may push meta to splat-only and it will be boring.

But it won't be splat only. You're going to see quite a bit of PPFLD too and small/medium caliber lasers in bulk. Stuff that won't make you overheat like a spud in the middle of the fight or at least can ride the heat scale for an extended period of time.

We'll see, but I'm sceptical. There are lots of mech who cant do anything but lasers, and heat-stable lasers without a coolshot will be out dps-ed by just about anything.

It is a crutch what else would you call it.. An instant strike anywhere and for no loss...

Take less heat gain weapons and use skill, its an arena stop massively alpha-ing, conservative mechs will be the winners in this..

Lil secret, Solaris will be boring AF within a week to ten days.

Meta will rule all and club those foolish to try and step up and that is just 1v1. Now, how bad do you think it will be when a team of two play against a "team" of PUGs? Rolled within a minute or two.

Same damn thing that happens in CW, solo complaining about groups, will happen in 2v2. Teamwork will club the solo "team" of two. The circle will roll on, just in another queue.

The solo/non team will be cannon fodder and rightfully so.

The best part of Solaris as they have envisioned and implementing at this time will be to ignore it and laugh as history repeats.

Laservomit, Coolshoot, Laservomit.
Splat, Splat, Splat.

Is there any difference in boredom except the visual?

There are only a few mechs with only energypoints,
most mechs have some other hardpoints too.
But yes, metawhores with one button pinpoint laservomit will have a hard time and this is not bad.

Well when you get two comp players together doing 1v1s without coolshots (and isn't there an option in private lobby to turn quirks/ST off too?) you sort of know what's going to work and what's not. A small laser/MG Nova can destroy quite a bit, but a YLW/Bushwacker with SnPPC/AC20 or CN9-AH with SRMs/AC20 will wreck its day. It's pretty much rock, paper, scissors.

Does it help me win? I'll take it. If you want to put yourself at a disadvantage and not use it, that's not my problem.

I use literally everything but lock-on weaponry, projectiles being my most used. If being able to visually gauge where my shell/ppc/slug is going to land at 800m before even firing isn't skill, i don't know what is. About alpha-ing, in the famous words of Arnold, "Stop whining!".

I really like this decision. It’s a step towards more skillful play, it rewards heat management and increases TTK. PGI while you’re at it please remove or at least rework the consumables in the other modes too.

Sooo... Heavy Gauss Solaris Meta?

IIRC the way Bandito defeated that other guy with the 2x HGRs in 1v1 was by taking MRMs on a MAD with a shield side. MRMs cause screen shake, forcing your opponent to miss a few HGR alphas. All I'm saying is that the HGRs are easily countered in 1v1 situations, especially when a HGR 'mech is slow as christmas, meaning its opponent can choose the engagement range.

Consumables of any kind have NO place in Solaris, let it stay that way

Consumables should kinda reign free in CW, but only UAV in solo and group play.

FYI El Bandito defeated someone who is mediocre in this game, that experiment only taught that top 150 player can defeat top 20000 player with worse mech.

As long as flamers and Lock on Missiles are the next thing to be banned i think we might have a pretty good mode.

Poor little bad, Strikes are here to stay as far as the rest of the game goes. Sorry you are not good.
