So they are removing the auxiliary tree completely?

No, they're basically just disabling consumable usage in Solaris. I'm assuming how it'll work is that mechs that you have consumables on will become invalid and you won't be able to drop them on S7, like how you can't drop with mechs without an engine or less than 10 heatsinks.

"You can have two" said paul

Paul said during the Balance Podcast that he is "tired of defending consumables" and that they are going to take a hit. I hope they hit them hard enough that they will not continue to dictate the meta in the QP and Comp game.

So once again something in MWO gets changed as a result of incessant and loud whining and crying, eventually causing PGI to get weak-kneed and acquiesce? Posted Image

Yeah but what will people do? Reskill their mechs without points into auxiliary tree or buy the same mech twice, one for faction/quick play and one for Solaris VII.

That whole skill tree/consumable-thing is a big fu.cking mess.

Either or. Honestly it'd just be easier just to swap nodes around since you don't have to rebuy one with C-Bills, just XP. Although buying a separate mech for Solaris so that you can optimize it without having to change around your QP mech will also work. Hell, you can even just leave it as is and drop it (except taking out consumables and putting them back in will be tedious).

Looks to me that Solaris will be dominated by ballistics and SRMs.. and I will have to make "solaris only" mechs..

Comp Meta: Multiple Strike Warrior Online = Dual Enhanced Air Strikes or Artillery Strikes

QP and Comp Meta: Laser Vomit Alpha Online or Gauss/Laser Vomit = Dual Enhanced Coolshots

I know that Laser Vomit and Gauss Vomit existed before but it did not dominate like it does now. Take away those Coolshots and Strikes. Watch the meta evolve to more heat efficient builds and cooler load-outs.

I know you want this to be true. Heck, I want this to be true. I wish shifting the meta were as easy as nerfing consumables. But you can't honestly believe that to be true. It will have an impact, yes, and likely improve some things. But it will not shift the meta.

I'm surprised someone thought he could get away without having solaris-only mechs.

One-on-one and having different divisions within the mode implies its going to be different meta regardless of consumables, just like FP and scouting are different from QP now.

I wonder if you'd have the time to use a consumable? Buzzer sounds, you turn around and instantly die as 4 Gauss rounds hit you in the cockpit? Or, the same thing with some laser vomit that is just above exploding after firing an alpha.

I don't need them cause I won't be there anyway...... Good luck all.

Any one who wins solaris with lrm, narc and tag only mech gets a free ultimate mech pack of their choosing. You know no one is going to be dumb enough to use lrms except a lrm 5 and a half ton ammo just for the psych out of the missile incoming warning.

No thanks. I've like 130 mechs on this account and the loading time between matches is already abysmal.

I kinda agree with comp and strikes but quickplay?
I've decided to put my potatoe mode on hold since i need c-bills and went full clan vomit metard with my ebj (i) mpl (dat sweet consitent 900ish damage per game).
Kinda forgot to equip consumables and figured i might as well try without it to save some c-bills per game, oh wonder i don't need them at all, not even coolshots.
So, quickplay has a consumable meta? lolno.
