Minrange ATM is 160m, LRM 180m...so nothing strange to see here.
Most likely the piranha has been hit by the one lonely missile that hit him before crossing the 160m barrier.
Also notice that minranges apply to the distance flown to target not to the distance you fired on target.
That is the reason why everyone with remote knowledge says don not use ATMs below 200-220m since a light will easily make 40m/s. So he will aktually be faster within min range than your missiles travel when you fire at him at 240m.

4 DMG for having 36 ATMs hitting is def not "ok". Far from OK. It's just proof that its broken.

Also, yes hitreg is really bad sometimes. Meanwhile others times some are one shotting mechs.
Seen a shut down light mech with no armor eat a massive amount of missiles and take no damage as the worste example recently.
Use the complaint button is all I got to say. Its a online game and this is standard, its also great there is a complaint button, use it.

4x ATM-3 would evaporate against it....
That's just against 1 or 2 AMS...

more likely that you didnt hit
lrm/atm missiles have trouble tracking fast moving lights and often hit the ground instead of the mech. hitting lights with missiles is where having artemis/tag stacked together comes in handy.
and yeah ams would explain a lot too. since an ams will devour atm3s.

I've NEVER seen an ATM hitting a target location and not doing any damage....and I've done hundreds of games with them. You guys are doing something wrong or not understanding game mechanics or sth else.

There's two legal possibilities on how this could happen:
1.A fast light moves perpendicular to missiles flight path or changes its elevation by moving uphill or JJ-ing. Atms have bad tracking and cant adjust fast enough.
2.Target moves toward you fast and missiles hit before they flown 120 meters and developed damage juice inside them.
The third one is a netcode stuff of course.

Oh this is nothing new.. I've dumped 5 LRM80 alphas into an urbie without breaking it's armor, and dumping the same into an Atlas, killing it solo.. Both well withing optimal range..
