I have created my own discord for any players that want training or instruction in Faction play or faction play tactics. I have spent that last 3 years as an integral part of MS and while I am taking a brief hiatus from leadership roles I want to extend an open invitation to anyone who would like to learn the ways of faction play

https://discord.gg/xQZjJg8

Please connect to this discord and I will assign you privileges to navigate around with. Any and all people are welcome any any skill level and number of mechs whatsoever I don't care. come one come all I want to help people learn faction play.

Will anyone come join me? I am online during the weekends usually from around 9:30 PM EST to 1:00 AM EST

I will also be streaming my training sessions on my twitch channel for anyone to view (Xavier's Twitch Channel) come watch and ask questions if you can't play.

Also please add me as a discord friend #9574

Xavier

I am thinking recently to get some training for my unit [MGD] but I don't have a clue where to start.
Basically I'm from the school the more experience the better but I kinda realize that what works for me doesn't work for the others. :s

What we have done in the past is to seek out another Unit, one you think is "better". Get them into your drops with you with the understanding that you want to gain knowledge and experience.

Have your Unit lead a few drops, then them. Ask for input and feedback.

If you are honest and seek to better yourselves and accept feedback and criticism, and that can be rough, I know first hand there are many Unit I have encountered that welcome an exchange like that.

Will be a lot easier to find a Unit to ask for help then it is/will be to swallow pride and actually ask them for that help.

Well in my own timezone here in the Netherlands it should be around 1AM when it peaks, we are not active enough that we drop 12 mans so we mostly fill it up with the usual Marik pugs I can fish up. :P
Teamspeak: Housemarik.enjinvoice.com mostly in the Midgard bays.
Passed you a friend invite in-game as well.

Would like to suggest a channel for Mechlabbing/Smurfy links/build questions and critique in the discord - this is one thing that kept the other thread going.

First off, a nice offer. Leadership isn't about what you say, it's about what you do.... Good form.

Farming, Stomps and Seal Clubbing? Those FP events that occur 90% of the time....... I haven't dropped as a team in FP for a year or just a little more. Just didn't want to wait for 15 minutes to find a match and then get stomped, over and over again. Honestly, has that changed?

If not, respectfully, a nice offer but to what end? There's no fun playing MS, EVIL, 228, etc.....

No fun if you bring the builds you do and don't wanna be in for teamwork etc.

I love seeing a decent bunch of players on the other side.

At least then you know you will be playing CW on both sides instead of one side playing CW and the other playing QP with respawn.

1AM my time.
Not really good with the different timezones so I mostly stick with my own.

You not looking at it proportionatly. Imagine if EMP was your opponent every single night.

Take that feeling and then add the ability to empathize aaaaaaaannnnnndd then realize, thats how dem pugs feel.

And dont try and tell me you or everyone would enjoy a challenge like that, because if it was true then comp que wouldnt have been ghosttown central everytime they or eon camped the mode.

"Dem pugs" have all the very same tools that EMP has to make a group, type to each other, and talk to each other.

Why is it "dem pugs" won't use those tools they asked for? Why won't they put forth minimal effort to play in a game mode they are fully informed and accepted to play in?

Well when I played GroupQ for a month (while leaderboard testing/general knowledge fun) I ran into all the good Div A groups quite often (EmP, 228, -SA-, -42- etc etc) as I was playing in US Peak.

We won most, we lost some. Didn't bother me in the slightest the overall result. Plenty of solid matches were had.

The PUGs make a concious choice to
  • Not form groups
  • Bring sub par builds
  • Play as a solo in a team game
  • Do not wish to improve because "I'm casual"
etc. All of these are choices. You make a choice, don't cry about it later.

Granted some players will never get to a decent level of the game simply because they are not good at it. But that is no different to any other game. I get smashed some nights in PUBG or other games I play. Do I stop playing? No. I keep going cause I understand I cannot win it all and just get on with it as I'm still having fun talking **** with the guys I play with.

CompQ was a ghosttown for many other reasons than teams "camping".

Wouldn't be the first time I said 1 thing and some of the people I bring along do the other because they think to know better. :P
Definitely if you and most people prep for a push and you got others hiding in the back or do something entirely different.

It feels like this thread derailed.

Kudos to Xavier for offering up his time. Some pugs like to graduate to mechwarriors and I hope they take you up on it.
