Because as I recall a lot of computers are still sold with 32-bit cause it's cheap software.
A lot of computers meant for casual users are sold with 32-bit versions of Windows preinstalled and/or a 32-bit install disc bundled, yes. Largely because their initial configurations are quite limited and the users are not expected to upgrade them beyond those.

However, to the best of my knowledge, the license keys for Windows 7 and up (I am not sure about Vista) work for both 32-bit and 64-bit install media: all you'd have to do is get a copy of the 64-bit setup disc (which I seem to recall hearing can be downloaded from Microsoft's website) for your Windows version, backup your data, install the 64-bit version and enter your current license key.

While it is unfortunate if someone is stuck on a 32 bit machine and is not in the financial situation to upgrade, you don't need to replace the whole system. You can keep your case, GPU, PSU, and depending on whatever motherboard you get, your RAM. All you would need to replace is the CPU and the MOBO.
Pretty much any machine new enough to run MWO will have a 64-bit CPU.
It's just a matter of installing a 64-bit version of Windows.

"Removal of current Supply Cache system"
I've heard earlier and passed to my unit-mates that we will be able to open them for free, without keys.
And now I just feel embarrased a bit.
We tried to collect them, we didn't open them for many months. Now it seems you r telling me that was for nothing. Noooo....

You weren't wrong on this. It was stated in an earlier road map that we were going to be able to just open them without the keys. Its just a bummer they didnt stick to the original plan.

The comment is at the end of the road map. "We will also be phasing out the Supply Cache Key system altogether; if you have a Cache in your inventory you'll simply be able to open it and get the goods, with no key or additional requirement needed."

This is the most positive thing you have done for players for a long time, PGI. As a frequent critic of yours, I wholeheartedly applaud you for these changes.

I believe that is in reference to the new Supply Cache system. There will be no more keys and you will get everything in the box.

All excellent moves. Can we please have back the level of detail we used to have before the client got dumbed down? It would be awesome to see the higher res damage and graphics from post beta.

Would meeting the Supply Cache Key issue head on be a response to the "gambling" issue circulating in EU politics? I like it anyway. Thank You from the bottom of my tiny, cheapskate, self-righteously judgemental, black heart. Posted Image

Regarding 32 => 64 bit changeover, will there be a "cleanup" (either automated script, or manual instructions) for the obsolete resource directory? If so, again, Thank You from the bottom of my tiny, **** retentive, obsessive/compulsive black heart. Posted Image

I applaud the 64 bit move. Perhaps people do not remember the CPU and video card arms race that PC gaming had been ×here machines needed constant costly upgrades. I ran this game on a machine I built in 2007 until December 2016! Fra ply you have to update at some point and this is it. There are plenty of complaints about this game not advancing enough; 64 bit is needed to do that.

Thanks for the update. Maybe you guys could see your way to giving away a couple supply cache keys between now and April 17th? Perhaps they could be a prize for an upcoming event, or a goodie we can pull out of the pot o' gold for St. Paddy's Day.

well, as was said earlier, think where they're going with still needing keys is you just get the entire damn cache, rather than one random item out of it. having a key for that makes sense.

whereas with the old RNG system having it be free makes sense, so it's understandable if they keep the keys around. as for the guy hoarding his Supply Caches... you really think they'd let you keep a ton you got when they change the system around? that's like expecting a WoW expansion to let you keep whatever the items you need for endgame gearand PVP are (Vaolor points, for instance, back a ways) to be used from the last one, instead of what Blizz actually does, which is converts however many Valor/Honor points you had into cash. sure, it sucks, but it also levels the playing field whenever the game changes a lot.

I for one welcome the change, especially as if it does go the "get the whole cache" route, you'll feel less ripped off, given.. well.. there's at least six times I've had a supply cache stop just AFTER the mech in it and i get some crap i'd never use. with the new system, if it is that way... now.. what you see in there... is what you get. plus it's a great way to unlock a decal, or get a single use one, etc, as well.

I want to give you a heartfelt 'thank you' for the straight refund on keys and caches. I was expecting to have to jump some hoops, but this is far classier on you part.

Honestly, one of the best things about the new Solar is mode is just the fact that it's quick-in-quick-out matches. that and not having to put up with anyone else except your opponent. makes it a great Alternative to "Quick" Play.

Well, I've taken to selling my Caches anyway because I don't often see prizes I want, so the refund on Keys is welcome to me. Also, glad the respec cost is gone, as are the extra decals. RIP 64 bit, but if that means we're able to get some faster mechs like, say, the Dasher, I'm all for that.
