Yesss! A fast little light to accompany my Locusts! Glad I held off on the Blood asp pre order as this one is wayyyy more up my alley!

Nice one pgi. Although it looks very similar to a locust in many regards...

Edit - I will say though that the paint schemes for the collectors and hero are pretty weak sauce. Terrible colour schemes and designs infact but thats a small price to pay for another fast light IS mech. (It will be black like all of my mechs anyway so it doesnt matter :P )

@HGA: ironically, the Flea was also announced wayyy back, actually I believe BEFORE the Locust, so it's nice to see it show up. might be five years late, but thanks to the Civil War tech, we get some of the nicer variants.

anyone else notice that for a mech named after an insect renowned for its ability to jump, none of the variants can? woulda been something nice for the hero at least

So you want an Inner Sphere Omni with a locked 360XL? Hmmmm.

A 90-tonner at that. That's totally not a death sentence in MWO.

Well as already shared I hope we get Dasher at some future date. Although I understand why we probably won't. It is the only other mech they haven't released that I want. <3 Still happy for the flea already ordered with all the bells and whistles.

[Okay maybe I also want the Men Shen as well but being that's an IS omnimech doubtfully going to happen so I have accepted that one]

Spoiler

It should "gradually" raise up to full speed.

I am thankful that through the use of a joystick (in my case a throttle stick -- not in use at the time of this video) that this issue's been mitigated by how much pressure is applied to turning.

You should probably lower your sensitivity, it will help greatly.

actually, it goes faster than a Locust when MASC is on.with the highest rated engine.

also, FYI, they followed the lore for its usual engine. and honestly, MASC makes up for it being slightly slower, especially as it'll be able to out-firepower a Locust by a fair margin.

View PostDavid Bradley, on 01 March 2018 - 03:52 PM, said:

The MASC values have been tuned since their initial release. MASC Mk I now provides a +20% speed boost. A Flea with its max engine and MASC will be able to run at 165.24 kph.

"ACTUALLY", gotta love that word...because "ACTUALLY" is the word people most love to use to justify an opinion without support of factual data.

There is a two ton difference between the XL 170 on the Flea and the XL 190 on the Locust. Guess where your two tons on the Flea goes? To the additional external double heatsink (1 ton, 3 crits) and your MASC (1ton, 1 crit) you must have in the Flea in order to temporarily accelerate to that 165.24 KPH. So no, your not gaining any more tonnage, overall your losing speed, and depending on your choice of armor your losing critical space. Not to mention with speed tweak the Locust is capable of a constant 165.43 KPH. So shame on me for not stating this all up front in my original post but I felt it was so obvious that most people could see it for themselves. The MASC is a gimmick and the Flea is a farce, promised when the game was still in beta.

Hang on, I'm saddened that the Flea (S) wont have it's cockpit destroyed by rollbars so I fixed it. Let not the Lolcust suffer in vain, let the Flea wallow in Rollbars too.

I mean, they increase your cockpit armour....Right!?

On a more serious note, it's a shame the non MASC variants are locked at lower engine caps and no FLE-16?
Heresy!

So I watched both Snuggles' and Kana's vids and skimmed through the tread here...
Does the question whether this Mech adds new gameplay over the locust seem obvious only to me?
Because... it's $15 after all one would have to spend for having, more or less, a few more locust variants earlier.
With lower engine cap but MASC on one of them, for what it's worth.

On my keyboard?

That is Exclusively using A and D on the keyboard, and no mobility skill tree.

Its funny that people think keyboards have sensitivity.

That is simply how turning in MWO works and looks at low speed when you're an over-maneuverable light.
This game has no sense of escalating momentum when it comes to turning. Meanwhile if you did this in GTA, the turn would gradually (though rapidly) increase to full turn... here it's a full throttle turn instantaneously.

Picture being in your car. Now turn your wheel to the left while moving forward slowly. Imagine if all you had to do was touch it and you'd jerk violently into a full blown turn. Wait you touched it the other way and now you've got whiplash. What's that? Want to make a minor adjustment to your course? PFft, full speed insta-turn right into oncoming traffic with 4 donuts.

Ah, missed the part about it being keyboard. Still, analogue keyboards exist, so no need to be a smartarse.

Though why you would ever need fine control using A/D I'm not sure, I use the mouse for all fine lateral movements and do just fine with the Locust & Commando.

Now that we have ourselves the Pirahna the Fire Moth will be a hard sell, speed cap or not. Clan omnimech, so two strikes against it already, and its hardpoints are less promising. As for Men Shen, it is based on the Raven so will most likely inherit its stature and hitboxes, which would make it one of the few IS omnis that may actually be playable in MWO (the Hauptmann being another, and then there are Celestials but for them we need to introduce new tech again).

It is a piss poor design, I agree. I wanna feel like I am piloting 20-35 tons of composite metal, not the Scout from TF2.

"Actually" there is factual data to support it. also... FYI, it's 177.6kph that's the top speed of the Flea with a 170-rated Engine and MASC.

We get that you dislike PGI's decisions, but frankly, when you're a vitriol spouting jackass, your opinion tends to get ignored.

Judge the 'mech after it's out and you've actually taken the time to pilot one. otherwise, shut up.

Sunder, Raptor, Templar and Avatar would all be prefectly playable in MWO. thing people tend to forget about IS Omnis is while a lot of them do have permanent XLs, they're also usually incredibly well armored, armed, and/or fast for their weight classes as well.

For instance, the Templar has forty tons of pod space for weaponry, and sixteen and a half tons of armor stock. compare that to an Atlas, with about 44-46-ish tons of podspace, and two and a half tons more armor, while weighing FIFTEEN TONS MORE and going 11kph slower.
