While I am more than happy to jump PGI's **** when they do something personally irritating or counter to their own self-interest (the latter particularly flabbergast me), I find that events which entice me into playing mechs that I find to be pathetic or just less than optimal is a good thing by them (not all the mechs in the event are under performers, but a lot of them suspiciously are) .
It is a sign of hope.
I like to think PGI does these things so that they can get a cleaner data set from which to analyze such under performers as these mechs, and especially their Trials - perhaps I should say "nominally underplayed mechs"-, so as to better review these POS in the future and perhaps attempt to fix them (Yes, I know I am being irrationally hopeful here, but hey I can dream).
So carry on PGI! Carry on. Entice us into playing crap mechs! Shine a light on the mediocrity of these under performers and your own past assertions that they are balanced! And then, by god, try and actually make them worth playing without the bribery of some extra c-bills and a camo pattern.

We... did not win. We didn't win with extreme prejudice.

The event has little to do with that from what I experianced. For the last few days I had one where we constantly stomped people 12 : 1-4 and other theys where I was on the loosing side.
Beside that I find the event very entertaining. Not only is there finaly some variaty in mechs you see but also it made me pick up a mech that I never would have and I found that its fun to play.
To bad my Victor is not on the list.

I allways find it funny how people see themself FORCED to do an event. "I have to do XYZ because its an event."
No you don't. Just play any other mech you like. No one will beat you to death with chopsticks because you didn't play the event.
Why are people allways thinking that?
Events are there to flawor the game with something different to do and I welcome that. I can't do all of them because I don't have the mechs and I won't buy them extra for this, ok bought the Zeus and its fun but I don't care for the rest.
I even have started the Griffin part and I don't keep playing because I don't like the Griffin.
Do I complain about it? No because there is no reason to it. I am NOT entitled to get the rewards. I can decide to play the event or not.

I know i'm not but i have low money so events are pretty much helpful to getting extra cbils, not needed no but a very big help to get much needed upgrades, not everyone has 300-400 million cbils hanging around..
Also the free camo for some mechs that don't have any is a real incentive.. Yes you are right but it still was a miserable slog getting those things i wanted.
Just think events should be fun not a grind.

Maybe go back to the same mech you were playing over and over and over before the Event? If the handful of mechs are so far outside your comfort zone to pilot, don't.
If you happen to be the only one on your side that can seem to pilot a mech and not derping in one of these unfamiliar mechs, eliminate the risk and form a group of equally skilled pilots.

People aren't necessarily being rational when they say that. My take on it: They want to play the event, but they're frustrated by it and upset. The nature of competitive gaming is that it's not relaxing. You want to sit down, pop in to your GRF and have a good time. But then you get 3 games in a row where the enemy team has godlike coordination and you get mowed down 1-12. People get upset. They post nonsense.

agreed, I hit alt+f4 in a middle of a match due to frustration. Its like people forget the core mechanics on how to win in an FPS.
