How could this not be posted before?

It is performed by an ancestor of our beloved Archon, called Peter Steiner, over thousend years ago. He became famous for being in advertisment for some kind of chocolate called milka.

This hymn is performed in half german, half english, and easily understandable for all lyran citizens.
Aber Vorsicht: (but beware:)
It´s cool man!

Preussens Gloria:

I was supporting this one..

View PostMarzipanzer, on 31 July 2012 - 01:14 PM, said:

But now I'm clearly supporting Preußens Gloria. It has a clearly martial sound, while 'Die Wacht am Rhein' has a not that 'drastic' sound.

Considering the Lyran Irish/Scottish influences, I'd vote for a 'substitute' anthem, because it would almost be impossible to find common ground in a song being German AND Irish/Scottish.

And thus, I propose this one:

First, because it's clearly balancing the martial nature of Preußens Gloria with its melancholic and thoughtfull lyrics, and second because this song already is capable of motivating THOUSANDS.

As Preußens Gloria is a manifest THAT we're fighting... the Fields of Athenry reminds us what we're fighting FOR.

Well, there is something that I found while reading the novels, and it's certified "Battle Tech" And was in a novel about the GDL, so not specifically Lyran, but I think it works :

http://www.sarna.net...is_the_Regiment

Quote
Home is the Regiment, across the sea of stars
On worlds hot, on worlds cold,
where Warriors tread afar.
Though place of birth and family,
though loved ones all be lost,
Home is the Regiment, across the sea of stars

Home is the Regiment, though warriors travel far.
They cannot take our home from us,
our home is where we are!
With brothers under arms we share
a bond that draws us where
Home is the Regiment, across the sea of stars.

Home is the Regiment, the price of glory high.
We stand with brothers at our sides
to pay that price, and die!
The blood of comrades cries to us
long after glory's past:
"Home is the Regiment, across the sea of stars."

Home is the Regiment, in honor's proud refrain -
blood brothers forged together as
drawn steel quenched in flame!
They stand by us in blood and fire
and share with us the cry:
"Home is the Regiment, our family and our own!"
The song was used almost as a leitmotif in the book Price of Glory was presumably written by the book's author, William H. Keith, Jr..

I have set this "lietmotif" (fancy name for a short song with constantly recurring musical phrase) to a simple melody, and if anyone is interested, I'd love to help put together an original tune, just need some musicians to add instruments to my vocals.

Here is the post with the link to the vocals I threw together in an afternoon:

Ok, here is the a tune that many know that would serve well for the musical score.

http://en.wikipedia...._Hardly_Knew_Ye

(It's the same tune, but there is some debate whether it was first written as "When Jonny Comes Marching Home" or "Jonny I Hardly Knew Ye") but I really prefer this musical rendition by The Irish Rovers: (The Tune with the lyrics from "Home Is The Regiment" is what I am thinking, slightly modified, with a different arrangement to better match the words)

No one has mentioned Masterplan. Black in the Burn is pretty good. They have a lot of other good songs as well. Crimson Rider is fun too (although it's about the Red Baron), and given Steiner's small little problem with "Social Generals" 'sharp dressed fools/ with their crazy rules' might just work.

accept that other than a family name which could be middle english variant, stainer, dyer, the lyran comonwealth is grouped from Scots Irish and West Country English (Skye, Donegal, Tamar)

Also steiner if we take the german isn't a name specific to a region of Gerrmany so could also have taken bavarian, saxon, or any of the other minor city states or principalities anthems
