Since we can't discuss that thing regarding the thing otherwise we'd be violating that other thing...
Here's a thought; please introduce better official soundpacks for this game. If some guy on his free time can make an awesome sounding thing, shouldn't be that be that much trouble for a AAA video game company.

Ciao.

Sounds on this game are well piss poor

While I don't like all the home sounds on the homebrews I've seen/heard o.O

The majority are far better and all are far better quality in production.

P.G.I should be ashamed of themselves, because the official set is mind numbing dull

I remember trying a new sound pack over a year ago, I guess it been updated with all the new tech? I should have another look... I remember I liked many sound in there. If I was able to do it myself I would do a mix of both.

Link to latest?

To your first question - Posted Image
To your second response - I don't know what you are talking about, I'm just talking about things. But hey while we are talking about things, PGI should make an OFFICIAL UPDATED SOUNDPACK

Finally, don't you dare get my thread shut down with your blatant forum etiquette naivete. Cool? cool.

Further pm me if you have any irrelevant questions.

Yes it is. There were literally two threads locked because of it this morning.
If you want to discuss that go start a thread and find out.

This is thread is to talk about getting something official going.

Have to admit my poll expertise in this realm is at 0 XP, anyone kind enough to point me in the right direction? That or have an already existing poll I could modify?

Where's Taragato when I need him?

It's been suggested many times before that they sell sound packs. It seems like it would be a no brainer new revenue stream for them. The only thing I can think is that they don't have anyone dedicated to working on sound effects. Maybe they just don't want to hire a dude or dudette full time for that.

I actually rather like MWO's base sounds. Used them for a long time with no complaints. Especially the new IS ER lasers, which sound super cool.

Well that's nice that you think that the IS ER Laser sounds super cool. Hate to be the one to break this to you, but nothing about the IS ER Lasers is new.

Maybe you should look up some of those things that can't be mentioned, to get an idea on what more dynamic sounds could be possible.
Like waaaayyyy more dynamic.

Maybe not the ERLL, but the IS ERML and ERSL have different sounds than their standard counterparts, and "new" because they didn't exist before the Civil War patch.

Now, I'm not using the standard sound atm, as a change of pace, but I hardly found anything wrong with them.

I find that the original sounds for the game aren't amazing, but they aren't horrible either.

As for getting new official sounds set up, I can understand why it hasn't happened. PGI has a staff of only 70-ish people. They have to put priority on components that aren't working first over components that are. With Solaris 7, Solaris City, and MW5 on the plate, they're beyond stacked on workload. Then there's the Faction Play research and rework after that.

Because the current sounds work and aren't broken, they will always come second to the bigger issues and bigger projects.

70? Last I heard it was a staff of 50. More than enough bodies.
That's funny because I am pretty sure every patch, something goes wrong with the sound in the game. Whether it's ghost machine gun fire, or cutting out improperly.
I'd say that alone is good enough case for some revising.

PS. If you want to be taken serious, please don't mention FP.

I'll take a better future that focuses on fixing things that are currently not okay, rather than investing resources into something that is. There are many, many parts of this game that need looking at long before sounds do. Especially when it is possible (if not necessarily allowed) for users to fix that, themselves.

They outright said in the production update stream that they are pretty swamped for work and you say there's more than enough bodies? How do you know? Do you run a game company? Are you a project manager or something?

PS. If you want to be taken serious, please don't make wide assumptions.

Russ said they are 70 ish working now, and more positions they intend to fill/looking to hire

That said
I think they just don't have someone dedicated for sound/music

Otherwise it would be a no brainer for a free to play game wanting to survive on cosmetics to offer different sound packs

Or of course that one person moved to MW5 or something
