BUT PLEASE KEEP IN MIND:: This absolutely DOES NOT close registration. The seed count of players can grow as much as is needed (with some exceptions) and I can mix between single-elimination and round robin as necessary. If you're still interested then post your name quick, because if we don't find enough players to fill the bracket by the saturday morning then you will not get a chance to play.

- First I will determine by coin toss if the game will run as Skirmish or Domination
- Second I will determine by dice roll the weight class the match will be restricted to (Light, Medium, Heavy or Assault)
- Then players will choose their respective 'mechs
- Lastly, a dice roll will determine the map from a subset of the maps I have chosen: Canyon Network, Caustic Valley, Rubellite Oasis, Terra Therma, Mining Collective, Viridian Bog, Tourmaline Desert, or HPG Manifold
If you are a declared participant in this event I will be messaging you in the coming days with these rules and also to get clarity on your in-game name (if it differs from your forum name).

This being said, if you make it past the first round and the competition needs to extend to the 14th, your no-show will count as a loss and your opponent will advance in your absence.

And we have a legit pro player in the mix! This just got more interesting, and all of you Mechwarriors who aspire to fame and fortune in Solaris7 have your work cut out for you.
We are still trying to fill 4 slots for a perfect single elimination bracket (or 12 more people... or 20) so keep the entries rolling until game day!

Room is available, which leaves us with one open slot for the second group. If we fill this last slot then this means that we are looking for 16 more players to fill the bracket. Whoever joins after BowTiger may be the last one who is guaranteed a position in the bracket.
If we get another 8 players after filling this section then the finals would be run in a round robin fashion, which would deviate from single elimination.

I've thought about that, but every match in the Steiner Arena is just too basic. Moderate temperature makes for easy heat management, and it IS very small. This game will be as much about heat management as it is about combat.
What I'm thinking now is that I will pair each of the listed maps with a game mode.
(ie. Terra Therma + Domination,
Canyon Network + Skirmish,
Caustic Valley + Skirmish,
HPG Manifold + Domination,
Rubelite Oasis + Domination,
Terra Therma + Domination,
Mining Collective + Skirmish,
Viridian Bog + Skirmish,
Tourmaline Desert + Domination
Steiner Colloseum + Skirmish.
This would still give an equal chance at either Domination or Skirmish, but I think the maps would be conducive to their respective game modes without too much cheese (but cheese MAY still take place, as all weapons will be allowed and calldowns [UAV, Air Strike, Artillery, and CoolShot] are also allowed. An easy straightforward simple deathmatch on the Steiner Colosseum is NOT what I had planned when I came u with this event.
I've also considered match ties. In the event of a first tie, both contestants will play a second match. In the event of a second subsequent tie, both players will be eliminated from the bracket, which means that their intended opponent for the next round would win on account of forfeit.
What do you think? I'm especially looking for comments on the map choices, and what kind of cheese I can expect in a Skirmish on the larger maps. I'm willing to drop the amount of maps that are paired with Skirmish, and this is not a final list.
