Greetings Mechwarriors!

Trying to finish this up this weekend, and am looking for some suggestions on builds for any of the Phase 1 mechs.

Would love to hear from people who have successfully completed it to chime in with builds that they did it in, since I'm especially having some difficulty managing this in some of the lower end weight classes (looking at you, JR7 series...Posted Image)

Specifically, any suggestions for the below mechs would be appreciated, since I've already completed it in the Griffin, Catapult, and Zeus.

1). Jenner -

2). Mist Lynx (Koshi) -

3). Shadow Cat -

4). Orion IIC -

5). Warhawk -

P.S. Just realized I should have probably put this in the Mech Builds forum.

If any Dev ends up moving this...I won't be offended. Posted Image

jenner - medium lasers. Its squishy so charging in early like a lolight is bad, wait a bit and flank engaged mechs or eat missile boats.

mist lynx - ersl and mg's. this is about the easiest of the bunch. core big backs.

shadowcat - 2hll and either 3mg and ecm or 5mg. ranged, flank and pick on mechs til theyre open and easy.

orion iic-a - lbx20 and 4srm6a. add 2 flamers if you feel like it.

warhawk - 4erppc +tc1 on the prime. squishy for an assault, utilize that range but dont play stupid far back.

None of those mechs are considered crap. Well, maybe the IS Jenner...

I find it funny how people complain in the forums and when you are on the field you see Jenners and the like doing their fair share of work.

I think when complaining you should define first if you are viewing it from a competetive, Esport like view or not.
Cause while the Jenner, for example, might not be a good mech for competetive players for the just for fun player it can work very well.

I got a Zeus and don't regret it as well as I don't regret haveing an Victor. Both are not consideret good mechs but for the fun play they are still good.
Would I take them into competetive play? No I won't but I know that and I don't complain about it. There are enough valid mechs to fight with that I don't care about the few that are not competetive.

What worked for me (and i'm considered bad here) so if i can do it anyone can..

Jenner 4erml 2srm4
Griffin.. Luck... pretty much horrible trial mech imo. Hope for a close combat map and take out lights..
Catapult K2 1Gauss 4mpl Jester 2erppc 4ersml
Zues 3srm6/mrm40 4-5mpl

Myst Lynx G stock build fix ammo and armor :/
Shadowcat again luck horrible mech 2hml and 3srm6 tac computer 6 (took me 10 hours to get 15 kmdds)
Orion IIC stock trial is excellent use it. (got 1000 damage in one match)
Warhawk 3 erll and 3-4erml

Thats what i used to complete it, i did not find the event fun though.

These are the mechs I used to do this even, might not be the best builds and most are kinda KMDD oriented.
1. OXIDE
2. MLX-G
3. SHC-P
4. stock ON1-IIC-A(C)
5. WHK-C

Try the Shadow Cat with 4xSSRM6 and a Light Tag and focus on lights.

You should be able to pick up a few easy KMDDs on them.

1. If you don't own an oxide... the 7k with endo/ff/dhs, 280XL, 1 extra engine heatsink, 1 each side torso, remove the CT jump jet and the case. 215 pts of armor. 4 ERML and an MRM10 with 1 ton of ammo located in the head. Heat Mgmt 1.5 and 129.6 kph, 30 firepower and 396 optimal for the lasers lets you keep some distance while harassing. 7d, same armor/engine/structure as above. Only 10 DHS, 1 ton of srms in head and half a ton to each leg, 2 SRM4s in the CT and 4 Small Lasers. Only 2 jump jets. Close range brawler to mess up folks who boated stuff with minimum ranges.

2. Standard Lynx-G except swap all the HMGs for MGs and increase the ammo carried with the weight difference.

3. Sniper with 2 ERLL 1 ERML, TC1, ECM, Light Probe, 5 extra DHS, 286 armor or streak cat with 2 SPL, 3 Streak 6s, ECM

4. 2 LB10s, 2 MPL, 3 Streak 4s, Light Probe, 6 extra DHS, 3 tons of ammo for each of the LBs and SSRMs, and an AMS with 1 ton of ammo. Yes some might argue "why not a single LB20?" but the twin LB10s shoot further, and faster, for less heat so in the sustained DPS game you're well ahead. You have to watch your heat a bit when using the MPLs and keep track of your aim of the LBs as 3 tons means only 30 double-taps. If you find yourself burning thru ammo more than overheat, change 1 DHS for another ton of ammo (either a full ton for one or half a ton for each weapon type).

5. Warhawks all have those 20 DHS to begin with, so build to take advantage. If not building with the Nanuq, the prime is still a very good mech with quad ER PPCs. I would remove the LRM10 and add 3 DHS and a light probe. If you want to brawl with it, as its as agile as some heavy mechs, then a Warhawk B with an LB10 with 2.5 tons, three SSRM4s with 3.5 tons, 4 MPLs, a LAP, and 2 more DHS works well. Alternatively swap in a A right arm, which costs you 1 MPL but lets you carry another DHS (23 max) and 7 tons total ammo.

Your memory sucks. Did you forget the free Victor that required numerous killing blow and match victories? This is a benign and easy event. I fail to see how it is the worst anything. History simply does not support your position.

Thanks for all the build recommendations everyone!

Managed the Warhawk bit last night, leaving me with Jenner, Mist Lynx, Shadow Cat, and Orion IIC. Debating which of these I'll try first.

I do have all 4 available Jenners (Sarah's JR7-D, JR7-F(C), Oxide, and JR7-K), and I'll probably be trying that Oxide build first I think. The extra c-bills are nice.

FINALLY managed the Jenner portion last night!

Holy hell what insanity. That one was for me, so far, the absolute most difficult of the bunch, and I tried every type/build that I could, over probably 50 matches. The one that finally clicked for me was my JR7-D (Sarah's), with XL300, Endo, Ferro, DHS, 4 SPLs, 2 SRM 4s, and 2 JJs.

Actually proved sort of fun to pilot.

Got Mist Lynx too, but that was pretty easy in just a handful of matches, and as recommended, was done in a barely modified MLX-G.

All I have left now is Shadow Cat and Orion IIC.

Cheers, all!

I just found out that the Stock Stormcrow E and H are pretty good mechs.
For H I had to drop two heatsinks because of sixed slots and replaced them with a TC1 and active probe.
For E I droped the laser and replaced them with 4 heavy lights and two additional heatsinks. Still quite close to the original.

Sadly you can't buy these two variants in the store. I hope that Variants like that will make it way into MWO at some point.

Panther, 2 snub nose and 2 rocket 10's. Fun and effective. Use what ever engine you like but I use a xl225 in mine so I can fit in enough heatsinks and jumpjets.

For stage 2:

Blackjack; 2 Ultra/2 + 6 ERSL. AC/20 + 6 ML. 2 PPC + 4 ML.
Dragon; RAC/5 + 4 MLs + SRM6/SRM4a/RL15. 3 Ultra/2. AC/20 + 2 SnPPC.
King Crab; AC/20 + AC/10 + 3 SRM6a. 4 Ulta/5 + LRMs. 3 ERLL + 2 Gauss. 4 LGauss. 2 RAC/5 + MRMs.

HIghlander IIC; 2 Ultra/10 + 3 HML + ATM12. LB-20 + 4 SRM6a. 2 ERPPC + LRM/ATM. 2 LB-20 + 4 SRM6 (Hero).

The rest I either don't have or don't use that much and others can tell more about them.

I don't think that is a good option for this event, DPS of snubs is low and the one shot nature of the rockets doesn't do much to help, so securing those KMDD is going to be hard when you are competing with friendlies who have far higher DPS.

I did it in just two matches (only 3 KMDD so good but nothing to brag about) with the Panther that has 3 energy hard points in the arm with 3 LL, this gives you a higher DPS with a flexible range bracket, granted the medium duration burn of the LL doesn't make them too deadly but they do let you tag enemy mechs generously. Invest heavily on heat generation and cool run and bring with you a couple of cool shot because the little bugger is HOT.

Panther 10P with 2 AC2s is a super fun build.

My first drop with it got me 4 KMDDs and 3 kills.

Some good suggestions here folks, thanks!

Got a Phase 2 thread started over in the Battlemechs forum if anyone would like to add more recommendations.

Cheers!
