Please excuse this question I have checked around and can't find out how to do it. basically I just want to gift my son something, but not to sure how to go about it.
I'm sorry if this question has been asked before, I just can't find it.

You go to the store > gift store and make a purchase, you will then receive an email (several, in fact, but only one) that contains the gift code. With this code ready and your son's account logged in, click on the "redeem" button on top of the mwomercs.com screen and enter the gift code. When redeemed succesfully, start the game client and log in. The gifted items will be injected.

Go to the online store.
Go to the "Gift Store" in the upper left corner.
Buy what you want to gift.
You will be sent a code to the email account you created your MWO account with or that is currently on file.
Upon receiving the code, you may then forward that code to the person you wish to give the purchased content to.

So i want to gift him a Mech with C-bills how do i do that?

Unfortunately one cannot gift a friend with a CBills mech.
You can only gift a premium mech package bought with real world cash, for anyting in the Gift Store here:

Here's a workaround:
Buy as a Gift any of the Stryker / Warden / Hunter / Predator Booster Packs here:
(Note: Each account can have a maximum of one each of above Booster Packs!)

~Each Booster Pack yields 8 Million CBills into account (note: Predator Pack release date is on/about 18-Jan-2022)
~Lucky recipient of this (these) Booster Packs can also sell the Standard Variant mechs + equipment for additional cash!
