[Spare Parts Bin]

I am leaning towards rejoining FP with IS Mechs but I have Clan tech as well with Direwolves,Highlander ll-Vs,Supernovas,etc.

I need suggestions for a couple of Medium Hero Mechs both IS & Clan.

My recommendation is not to buy heroes. Its very rare that they are best of the chassis in nearly all cases. The reduction in performance offsets any c-bill boost which is already being subdivided absent a full hero deck.

Here is my list of good I.S. heroes for CW.

Pirates Banes
Death Knell
K9
Oxide
Legend Killer
Top Dog
Black Widow
Hellslinger
Slepnir


Clan is irrelevant as the pod system allows great flexibility. The Pakhet is indeed powerful and useful though with its eight missile option.

As we just had huge hero sale I don't expect them to be discounted any time soon. Better off just buying premium time or receiving premium as a package order bonus.

I have the Top Dog, Black Widow,and a BLR-G. Can you folks suggest an ECM Mech like a Cicada.

Cicadas are junk. Assassins dominate all other mechs at 40 tons.

ECM is not really that useful quite frankly. Griffin-2N is a good ECM medium. Raven-3L does well with ECM in a variety of builds. The Grinner is solid, but inferior to the Wolfhound-2 IMHO. The ECM on the Pirates Bane is helpful if you are dropping on conquest or a fluid battlefield.

If you are just trying to introduce some C-Bill boosted mechs into your dropdeck then I feel that the RFL-LK, QKD-IV4, ENF-GH, HBK-IIC-DW, HMN-PA, CRB-27B(S), SCR-Prime(S) and SHC-Prime(S) are useful, although the latter will be used less now that the ACW has been made available for C-Bills. There are many cases, such as the ASN, where the c-bill model is better than the Hero mech for FP. For omnimechs, it is much easier since the boost part is associated with the CT so you can make whatever model you want and still get paid extra.

I have to agree, although the ASN is easier for a newer pilot to use I have seen many experienced pilots dominate with Cicadas at well over their tonnage. Its one of the few mechs that I will avoid a 1v1 with unless I am at least 10-15 tons heavier.

Yen Lo is obsolete in this modern era of Clan Xl, skill tree and durability quirks. At the same tonnage you could bring a Centurion-AH or Enforcer-4P. The c-bill bonus will not cover the match score deficit. My generic 50 ton recommendation is a either an Enforcer-4R or Crab-27B. People will see how weak the Wang is when it receives its Solaris mech tier rating.

I now have a Griffin 2N, just not outfitted yet, I bought it for the ECM. I also bought a Storm Crow Prime for the new event.

I do really well in it. You have a whole half a mech that doesn't do anything except block shots, all your weapons have the same optimal range if you use medium lasers, it has decent firepower for a 50 ton medium, and overheating is basically not a thing. If you can twist it's a good brawler. It can even zombie. What specifically do you think is so bad about it?

That is a good question. I love IS Hero Mechs especially Heavies like the Warhammer Black Widow,Orion Protector, and Assaults like the Highlander Heavy Metal and Stalker Misery. It is the IS medium Heroes I don't have.
