If you don't think it's a good idea to bring AMS, why would the LRM boat? Unless you're all gonna magically get rid of the roof on Crimson when you pick that. I'd call that a fair exchange.
The truth is, people don't bring AMS because LRMs are barely a threat, even on the most favorable map possible.
I've walked away from Polar games with 17% health and everything functional, because the only thing that shot at me was LRM boats and it spread damage like warm butter.

Furthermore, if you're expecting enemy LRMers, since you're a LRMer and are voting the same way as enemy LRMers, give yourself a leg up.

Awesome, so when you vote for a map where LRMs are pretty much useless, I expect you'll be doing something for the lurmboats.
Oh wait, you can't.

I got guns. I got them them covered. :3
Of course, I'm only expecting them to act in their best interest by acknowledging the meta context of their decision.

AMS, 1/2 a ton of ammo. That's enough to get you through a push to the enemy.
There's very few builds that wouldn't benefit from it. It works against ATMs very well and it can kill a few SRMs and streaks. If the whole team has it you'll gimp the hell out of MRMs and SRMs and shut ATMs and LRMs down completely.

And yet, nobody uses them because the general consensus is that 1.5 tons gets a better return on almost anything else.

That's great. Thanks to your map choice, they basically don't have guns while you're getting rushed in the tunnel on Crimson or hiding in the buildings on River City. Enjoy the effective -1 team mate.

LRM isn't really an issue but AMS helps a lot vs Streak and ATM. That can greatly extend the life of light and medium Mechs who tend to expose more and get caught out.
The best defence against LRM on Polar is accurate direct fire and controlled exposure. There is lots of line of sight blocking terrain you just need to learn to use it instead of relying on easy mode hard cover.

Well, as I said, I was NARCed, which is synonymous with ****** on that map. Don't ask me why there was a NARC raven on solo queue. It confounds me.
I'm considering dropping the ERSL on the Madcat MkII-B I was trying to level for a laser AMS or AMS. I have the excess heat available. Leveling during an event is pretty rough though.

Giving LRMers a tip for courtesy and winrate isn't trolling, unless it's official that LRMboats are trolls and we shouldn't be escalating/interacting with them. For my own edification, is this the case?

Yer NARC is the hardest thing to handle on that map. I take NARC in QP sometimes just to test things for FW.
First thing you have to do it try to bait NARCS early to determine who and how many before their LRM Mechs are in an ideal position to support. If there are NARC Mechs you have to screen friendly ECM Mechs to stop them from NARCing them. If you can keep your ECM mates safe you will always have an area to run to. In short, focus the NARC Mech, screen friendly ECM and if neccisary take the Narc hit for them. If no ECM is arround and you get NARCed then run directly away from the LRM Mechs and twist as you go. You'd be surprised how much fire you can take and survive doing this.
AMS is a great investment though, even in FW. It isn't so much the benifit to your own Mech (lights excluded) but the fact that it helps counter the potato team mates ability to position.

I wonder about someone who straps multiple tons of barely-useful equipment that only tend to matter if your team brought significant amounts of LRMs.
I mean, it's great if you're missile boating and there's a light/medium out there podding targets, but unless there's enough missiles on the team, you're almost wasting the tonnage otherwise. That we don't get ammo switching means the explosive (damage rather than NARCing target) option is off the table for the launcher.
