Can't do UAC20 + 3 SRM6a, the third missile is crit limited by being in the CT. Going with 3 SRM4a works fine, though, helps keep damage going and focuses it in a little better, given you're already going to be spreading a little because of UAC shenanigans. Can also remove the Artemis and add something like 2 ML/MPL to bump up the damage further towards Victor levels.

I only had time so far to play one match with the Roughneck. I was surprised that I did 400 damage. I play Clan mostly and wasn't sure if I should change the loadout. I don't have a whole lot recent experience with IS loadouts. So I left the loadout stock but I did throw about 51 SPs on it just to see how it performs.

Haven’t been in game to try it yet, but I thought Ac20 , 3x srm4’s & 2 mpl or ac20, 2x srm6+art, 1x srm4+art both looked about right for this chassis.

Running an AC20 with a MRM20 and MRM10 on a LFE275 has been working out well for me. My main limitation with that build is that I'm still not any good at aiming MRMs yet.

running uac2s medpulse and rl15/20s. i ran it once but was discouraged after playing four games that were exactly the same, same map, same tactics, same potato content. rip variety.

Try a UAC20, 2xSRM4, 1xSRM, 2xMPL. I'm considering dropping to 2xMLs and upgrading to 3xSMR4 and an extra ton of UAC ammo.

I didn't care for the looks of this thing. I have tired a Roughneck in the past and was under impressed but I gotta say for the two games I've taken it in it's done very well for me.

I couldn't be happier.

Was looking forward to the Sun Spider and that's a disappointment but this Roughneck is pretty good IMO.

I run an AC20 and three MRM 10s. I like it alot.

There is when one is a side torso that you can afford to lose with a high mount while the other is in a low chest mount that allows you to hit ankle biters. I actually was able to protect myself from a Cicada earlier today while I was close to death because of that MRM10 in the CT. If you're foregoing your arm mounts, with most people seem to be doing, you've got to protect yourself from the little bugs moving at 127 KPH somehow. I know that "SRM6" is an obvious alternative but I prefer the ammo sharing.

I would consider that but I just plain suck with MRMs so I'd rather have one MRM20 than try to balance two ST MRM10s alongside the CT MRM10.

I run 3 x AC2, 2 x MRM10 and 2 x ER ML. It feels kind of strange but I am actually doing exceptionally well in it. I kept the XL because the I have always found the Roughneck to be pretty XL friendly and haven't really felt it was holding the mech back from performing, then again, I never felt the IS XLs were as much of a problem as most people, well at least on select mechs.

Hey Asym,

If you’re having fun with the build, then just run it.

That said, the Roughneck is exceptionally tanky for a heavy mech, if you run it long enough to max out the survivability tree you basically have a mech with assault-level armor, in some cases higher, and much better mobility. For me this means I can carry heavy-hitting short-range weapons and survive long enough to get good use out of them.

I am away at work so haven’t tried out the PH yet but when I do I will run it with an AC20 (4 tons ammo), 2xSRM6 (3 tons ammo), and two medium lasers for backup. Oh, and an LFE285. If you get close enough you won’t need Artemis for the SRM’s, and firing them at the same time as the AC20 wrecks face. Drop the lasers and you can take a UAC20 and an additional ton of ammo.

UAC20 + MRM40 is nice because both weapons are slightly above cockpit level
