But nowhere could I recognize that there would be a time problem, even if the timer said differently.
Well meant but poorly executed PGI and even worse communicated (publically) on how you think this could be solved. Thanks god that I did not leave my unit to switch then afterward would have to repay the recruitment costs of several millions and what not .......

seriously.... if you guys spent half the time playing MWO that you do whining on the forums about it, the probation period wouldn't be a problem.

A whole lot of crying about 100 loot bags that were available for 4 days of normal FP. people complaining thats not enough to do enough invasion matches, because you know, they don't do scouting.
Basically, "I wan't all this free stuff, but don't want to step outside my norm and have to change anything for it to be given to me."
Sure, the "Fight Now" incident, but if that took you longer than a hour to work out, maybe playing games on something that isn't a table isn't for you...

But since you didn't I will assume that presenting any arguments would be just like playing chess with a pigeon.
I see posts like these, and I want to laugh, only to realize that crying is more appropriate.
I guess in the whole mess of this, nobody thought about Mercenary Contract usage? You can always pick another Loyalty Contract afterward, but at least you don't have to fight with the Probation Matches in the meanwhile. During short Special Battle Events like this, Mercenary Contracts are the only reasonable thing to help you get through it quickly.

To all you so called loyalists that chose not to move , I spit on your definition of loyalty . You are not loyal , A child who refuses to stop suckling from its mother has no real love for mother , you are all full of pride and fear . You refusal to evolve or take advantage of your enemies hinders your faction . You are all Sun Tzu,s idea of bad comedy .
I have stolen mechbays from the lesser houses because i am more Loyal than you .

Your thinking is restricted to your condensed world of your private one man unit. Now consider that you need to drop contracts and make 200 people do probation matches. What if the most of them don't agree? What if you'd have to drop out from the Unit in order to complete the challenge and get punished for that, for no reason?
You need to consider a bigger picture than you see just by yourself.
The system with it's current rules is not fit for such a challenge.

Hi there, MrKvola... You're right that the Current Faction Contract System creates crippling problems for Event Challenges like these. I tried to consider for some of it, but I definitely missed something. Read on to see what I mean...
Just for starters, I guess I made the poor assumption that everyone could trust their Unit Leader, as I thought that was something every Unit Member would place in the Unit Leader when joining. Plus, I wasn't thinking much about the fact that the Unit Leader and anyone else handling Contracts would be rendered unable to take a vacation, because I figured they made that sacrifice in order to lead a Unit. But I guess those things just don't hold true even when they would need to, do they?
What I did think about however, was that if Loyalty had to be dropped, being a Mercenary could be done until the time for it had passed. After that, Loyalty could be re-established with the intended Faction that the Unit wanted to be Loyalist to.
Yeah, about the only real-yet-nasty hole is where someone would end up having to pay that ugly 10 Million (C-Bills) to rejoin a Unit. That is the one major problem still existing in the system, but was put there due to Extremely Huge Units like MercStar (just one of many, but the one that came first to mind) constantly running other small Units and single players into the ground repeatedly. It does need change and fixing, but I wonder how we're going to get PGI to listen. Frankly, I think it should be set to a flat 250K (C-Bills) per person (in short, the full payout of a good single match which doesn't always come to everyone, and usually needs 2 or 3 matches), and not a scaling amount based on Unit Size. Just my opinion, but I feel it would still make people think carefully about joining a Unit or leaving it, yet hopefully without creating massive conflict with Events.
By the way, my apologies for how I sounded in my previous post. Apparently, at the time, I was having one of those "Doesn't anybody see the alternatives?" moments. Worse, I was feeling jadedly sick over several pages of rants and arguing that I had trudged through just to get down to the end of the thread again. I've got to watch that a bit more, and try to not let it come out so harshly in my posting.
Have a good day, and thanks for giving me a chance to expand on the discussion.

Yup. I was unable to play because I'm in HHoD, and management didn't want to switch to Clans for 2 days. So my choices are to leave the unit or not play the event. Neither is a very good choice. If they want to do more of these events (and I hope they do, the Davion vs Steiner one was a lot of fun) they should put in an "alliance" system or something where you can declare temporary allegiance to a faction involved in the event, and drop on their behalf. So we'd be Davion loyalists reinforcing the Steel Vipers for whatever lore reason you want (I'm sure you can think of something). Would let us participate without forcing us to break loyalty.

Not trying to sound harsh or like I'm taking it the wrong way. I was just trying to present my point of view and the facts that support it, contradicting your statements. And perhaps expose the flaw I perceived in the logic you applied to your argument.

Yes, I think that would be a viable solution. Also - since our Unit Leaders are people too, and sometimes they take some time away from their computers - how about making this a personal decision, enabling one to participate in an event while not affecting other players (and not be affected by them) in your personal choices?
If not, then let's cancel the unit fee. As stated before, I am strongly convinced it did not change a thing in regards to effective Unit size (having a bunch of idle players does nothing for you anyway. No reason to get punished. If you have that many active players all it comes down to is having all of them contribute to company coffers, which renders the fee useless again, as the contribution required is miniscule.
