This thing turned out to be a pretty fun ECM / Boom poke Hawk. Since it is the only Phoenix Hawk that can equip ECM, I wanted to try something different that just the usual PPC sniper mech.

Instead I've made it more of a 2nd line support role with the Heavies with ECM cover, and decent firepower.

Ballistic Phoenix Hawks are a lot of fun! I usually run the 1B with an Ultra 5 and 4 medium lasers.

Sorry, but that's not the statement he made.

No where did that statement mention ballistics.

PHX-2 is great too. Much better than it should be according to the dry numbers and also carries ECM.
Lots of JJ, lots of cooling for the 6 MLs, 110 kph with LE engine + built in agility = fun.

LBX10 sounded too heavy for the PHX, unless using XL engine and I dared not to run PHX on XL. Seems like it is worth checking out though. I'd love to try Roc with its arm SRMs or the PHX-1K with 8 lasers, but no ECM. I don't own them yet.

What is the opinion of the 3S? Is the MASC worth its weight and loss of hard points?

After reading this post I modified my PXH-1B. I like it with ACs much better. I don't know if it is better, but it is definitely more fun. I lost my mind and chose an LBX10 instead of the AC10. I like the UAC5 version too.

For the PXH-2 I have been running it with ERML and stealth armor. I don't use LXL engine on PXH because I usually loose the arms before an ST death anyway.

I don't usually use MASC. I find using the extra tonnage to increase my engine size or add heat sinks is a better option. But a lot of people use it to great effect. I think it takes a bit more skill than I have to use effectively though.

There's no point in running the 3S without the MASC.
