I think I'm guilty of a dumb thing not listed... It only looks like an Assault. Runs a huge LFE engine and a weapons loadout which might maybe be acceptable on a 65-tonner.

Identifies As a Light
Easily mistaken for Master Tactician or The Invisible Giant, but for his addiction to speed
His first step in outfitting a mech is always installing the biggest engine he can fit (often an XL, although he may use a LFE if he can find the tonnage ). Speed is his lifeblood, and he sacrifices everything else to attain it - including combat effectiveness.
In battle, his mech advances with a stately grace of over 70 kph in its' speed-enhancing red paint, incapacitating the enemy team with sheer confusion of witnessing his build and roaring fits of laughter induced by tickling them with its' nearly-medium-class armament.
Battlecry: "Meep! Meep!"

Afk ppl that connect alright but are afk in the first 1 - 2 mins die horribly especially on maos like hpg or mining and a number of other maps as well. Especially in slow *** mechs. And yet I see ppl dying to that almost every match.
I thinik in general, assaults die to these mistakes more than any other weight class.
Not understanding nascar is the other thing which kills them more than anything else. No matter the map or mode....if you look at radar theres almost always 1 - 3 mechs right where almost the entire team read is heading to.

Hmmm, do we have a "sir-dapper-whatsit", complete with a completely silly/truly trollish yet functional build for the Mech in question, whether it works or not? Like say 6 hmg king crab brawler or all flamer gargoyle, or some other silly build of your choice?

The Mad Scientist
His mechs will feature truly outlandish combinations of weaponry and equipment, but his chief weapon is surprise...and confusion... his two chief weapons are confusion and surprise...and an absolute aversion to meta of any kind.... His three chief weapons are confusion, surprise, and an absolute aversion to meta... or, for that matter, dropping with the same build twice.
Oddly enough, even though they should never work, his builds actually do... at least sometimes.
Battlecry: "This build should do at least 300 damage, it can't be stupid if it works!"

Pure "Boy Scout" here.
Especially when I'm using stock mech in battle.

The Light Mech Hunter
He's got 4 PPC's, and is going to spend the better part of the match trying to land a hit on the light mech harassing your back line. After all he's only got 5 points of armor in back and will die in less than 3 seconds to anything behind him.

The Bloodhound
Cousin to The Light Mech Hunter, the Bloodhound is characterized by a single-minded persistence in pursuit their intended victim and will follow them with unyielding determination to the exclusion of anything else - even when the target is speeding away at twice or thrice the speed the Bloodhound could ever attain.

Battlecry: "Squirrel!!!"

So last night, I died in a match early and decided to hang around to spectate. I came across a Zeus that was trying to snipe enemy mechs at ~900 meters away.

I say "trying" because he was armed with Medium Pulse Lasers and SRMs. I'm pretty sure that was a trial mech. Which is kind of sad because AFAICT, his crosshairs were spot on his chosen target every time he fired; if his weapons had actually had the reach, he could have inflicted some damage.

Can anyone identify this species?

Last night I had a QP match where we closed on the enemy at about 65 kph, we had a good position and flanked in, killing 3 mechs.... while a guy in an Anni was way in the back. Like a grid back in the back saying we were idiots for NASCARing.

There was an Anni on the other team. In fact he was at the *front* of the other team. So the 48kph assault on the other team led his teams NASCAR and killed our teams terribad 48kph assault who raged that we guaranteed our failure by doing exactly what the other team did to us... just with better players who knew how to manage the map and positioning to not get left behind.

He then dies, being a sucker and calling everyone idiots.

Cuz.... yeah.

"What does this button do?"

Fermented Lrmtato; A combination of Bitter Vet and LRMtato. Will sit 800m from the fight in his LRM60+ Atlas complaining about how his team sucks. Despite being the last alive on the team, he usually does the least damage.

My favourite is the Silent Warrior: Regardless of tonnage this pilot will not talk or text to agree or disagree with a strategy. After the match they become Morton Salt. They go on a tirade about how their team sucks but they gave no input at anytime during the game.

I'd like to see a taxonomy of mech pilots in general. This is great.

The Transcendant -

When you realize the only thing PGI can't nerf is yourself. So you get out if the cockpit and do forum pvp instead.

"Come on push NOW"........“I pushed, where the **** were you guys?”......“WTF is WRONG with you people?!?”.

I'm sure there's a lot of people in here who have said this, in this particular order.

Being afk even for 30 seconds in anything slower than 100 kph is just dumb and reduces your chances to contribute or survive dramatically. Its just stupid to join late in slow mechs. And joining late in assault mechs should be penalized right away. Join late 30 seconds (if you are connected that is) and your cbills should but reduced by 85 %.

Here is another one I've seen on occasion in QP.

The Warper
Named for the creature in Subnautica, these pilots are similar to the Master Tactician at first, but they are the wandering-off pilots who actually get stuff done. They are usually seen bearing the symbol of House Steiner and usually pilot Atlai or Zeus. They frequently inspire sheer naked terror from their enemies and awe from their allies, who frequently wonder what dark beings they have made sacrifices to in order to gain their stealthy powers.

Battlecry: None. Their battlecry is the fearful screams of the enemy team who type in allchat "Where did he come from?"
