So, I and my unit just experienced something extremely bizarre. In group queue, we had probably 4-6 groups of two or three man groups like usual, and it ended up getting voted Domination on Polar Highlands.

And two players convinced 8 of our teammates to Suicide into the Redzone because, and I quote,

"**** this gay *** map, this is your fault for voting for it, anyone who votes for this is gay."

Even the other team was blown away. I've never seen a mass walk out via Mechwarrior. And parties involved said they'd do it again. And have done it before.

I reported them, of course, but you can't actually report 8 players out of a single match, and if this is going to be a trend within group queue, that's a problem.

Anyone else seen this ridiculousness?

I have seen this several times in CW. Some pug saw one unit tag on the other team. And then told his fellow puggers that the end was nigh. So they drank the kool aid ejected all there mechs and ran out of bounds.

Actually, you can screenshot and send a report to moderation@mwomercs.com .
Back before the report button roll out, this was how we had to do things. I cannot speak for it's efficacy, due to that being against the CoC, but then, so is game abandonment, which is why we have the report function.

I mean, a screenshot of that'd be pretty damning.

As a player, I am rather shocked by this kind of behavior. It's an instant loose for everyone when this happens, even for the winning team. Where is the competition and enjoyment of battle? Unsportsmanship like conduct, yes, but I also think that this goes way beyond that kind of term. Should we meet in battle on the game grid, I won't do that ever. I sometimes have trouble with my internet connection cutting me off and demanding my security code, and I have to log back in, which drives me nuts. But what you experienced is beyond ridiculous.

On one hand, that's pretty lame.

On the other, **** map voting and **** how the average players votes. I can completely understand their frustration. Every time I see Grim Domination I want to reach through the screen and throttle everyone else in the game, and theres more than one map mode where I 70% check out when I see it, barely paying attention to the game because actually trying would give me a stress stroke.

I don't get this attitude of not liking certain maps. Some maps don't cater to your play style? So what? Isn't mastering the map as much part of the game as mastering your mechs? Do you best and hope the other side is as ill prepared for this map as you are.

The mass walk out is even more bizarre to me.

It's bound to happen at times. If you forced randomize everything, you'd probably see this happen too.

The thing is, if every map were generally equally viable, you'd probably see less complaining of the map. That's before we talk about the awful gamemodes like Escort.

If things were designed well, then these things would actually be a non-issue. All we get is minimally viable. At some point, one would hope the AI on Escort would "get a clue"....

I'll settle for the AI telling its team, "I'm going over here!" even if "here" is only the next waypoint on its meandering course around the map.

with how long it takes to get fp games these days, it should be a mortal sin to quit. i joined to play unit or no, even on a loss i can get some score and points towards my next mech bay. i think any one who initiates a mass quit like this needs to be perma-banned, temp bans for everyone that followed them. public floggings for all. when we get addons, all there mechs with have a pink tutu permanently installed on all their mechs.

I don't care for certain maps (Viridian just has my number, but I love Forest Colony - makes no sense, but I wouldn't suicide), but as Bombast pointed out, some map/mode combos are just cluster****s. Grim/Dom being one of them. I've won from the bad spawn, but its rare. I don't want a 50/50 chance of getting the good side and having a distinct advantage or vice versa. Same thing used to happen with Alpine and Dom. PGI did a decent job of fixing that. Wish they'd apply the same effort to other unbalanced map/mode combos.

unfortunately due to the lack of follow up on reports, i have no confidence that the report function is not a placebo. i still do it, but i doubt it does anything.

qp isnt even playable anymore imho. id rather take my chances in the shark tank. at least the maps are random there. and its a good tater filter too.

nothing new here... I will not call out names cause of TOS, but i've seen some folks flat out DC a map because they didn't wanna play it. Used to happen on the old terra all the time.. Was one of the better conquest maps in the game too. I really wish they would bring it back.

I've seen 1 or 2 do this but most of an entire team is pretty crazy. I can understand getting frustrated with certain maps but honestly most of the issues can be fixed by the way you approach the map.

I dropped with a small group on Alpine Peaks Escort. We were the attacking team. About ~30 seconds into the match we were notified the Escort mech was destroyed, and we won the match. The defending team destroyed their own escort mech just to avoid playing the game mode. Since the other team was not in view, I have no idea how many players thought this was a good idea. Not much was said to us about it. It seemed kind of petty to do a thing like that, but I just chuckled to myself and then exited the match.

As I have been saying all along for a long while now, at least half of the problems with this game can be traced back to the player base. <shrugs>

Yes it is ridiculous, and people doing that on any map should be severely punished. But well seems they wont.

This is MWO and some people will always do what they want without any real consequence. The current low population probably discourages any future modification to limit those ten-year old (or even less) attitudes.

Reports are useless and this game is sometimes really crazy ! Play only at your own responsibility. Posted Image

To all those who do this: So you dont get what you like, you throw a tantrum like a baby.

Man If I got a MC for every map that didnt suit the mech build I was taking I could buy everything in game. Its not like we have that many maps to choose from.

Get over yourself and play the game.

So when solaris comes are you going to eject if you dont get the map you like?
