I quite like the idea of solaris, in particular 2v2, 1v1 is nice, but not really my forte. I like the coordination required from just two to outgun two others.
I think the tiers are gonna be interesting. Would love to see an urbie in the assault class for lols.
As for those crying about FW. FW is **** from a new player perspective. Before you even know which end to point your ppc at, you are locked into contract (before the recent change), you run into coordinated groups that follow a strict no-lube rule, and you expect me to have fun? No thanks, maybe if there was a proper puggle FW I might play it, but solo, or small group dropping in FW is an effort in futility. That being said, the intended, great groups, bashing it out matches are fun, but I don't really feel like getting one of those every 13 games.
I look forward to pimping my rides in the new mech lab, now lets hope they add some proper 80's neon colours to the mix, if it ain't making you physically ill, its not bright enough

I wont deny the most iffy thing about all this is the FP mode going offline for a week or two .

(Third or fourth tweet down)
FP is not going dark or the conflict being killed for the Solaris launch. In short, he changed his mind after the outcry following his initial comment.

Till then, maybe if im really bored i consider reinstalling mwo again after the huge disappointing qp rounds the last weeks which led to the deinstallbutton.
The next Train arrives when mw5 hits the piratebays.
The ultimate Train when mwo shuts finally down and so the systematical f2p ripp off is not longer the only way to play a modern Mechwarrior Game anymore.

For those of you that are a little apprehensive about this .. know that this kind of game mode helps to develop your personal skill. I don't consider myself anywhere near the best player in the game but I know my skill has increased since I started doing 1v1's as part of MRBC practice. I can appreciate that it's not everybody's cup of tea though!
Looking forward to hanging out with everyone on stream for this tonight!

it'll also help people's fitting skills as well, as Solaris being a dueling setup also means you want either a high damage quick-kill knockout mech, or a heat-manageable setup that can keep the pressure on, rather than the QP/FW reliance on overly hot energy mechs and range, which you frankly don't always have, Solaris or not. it'll incentivize people actually mixing their builds up, or at least making them effective at all times, rather than just being long-range flashbulbs that explode at the drop of a hat if they're closed on.

Leave it uninstalled, you sound like Fortnite material

It definitely will be a new meta, because many things tuned for the long run of 12v12 will not work as well in the shorter runs of 1v1 and 2v2.
High alpha builds will be a thing, but, unfortunately, the Direstar will not work and has not worked for some time. The amount of heat from the alpha strike will instant kill you before the PPs leave the barrels of the Cannons.

Need a bit more information of course, hopefully that will come out over the next few days.
Shame there's no melee though. Gonna miss out on a lot of those specialised gladiatorial 'mechs.

in fact, Energy Builds period will suck in solaris. You don't have a team to save your butt if you overheat.
most Solaris Builds are likely gonna be SRM, ATM, MRM vomit, and Heavy or lots of ballistics, especially the brutal shortrangers like the LB20 or RAC/5.

Energy builds don't require ammo and have focused pinpoint damage. Also, overheating depends both the build as well as how a player plays. I personally wouldn't count them out.

Hey, lets be fair, I think Fortnite exceeds the skill capacity of somebody openly talking about pirating the developers' game on their own forum.

My Deathknell and PIR laugh at your Direstar.
Yep, try hitting a 155 KPH Commando with that. I'll even make it fair by staying within the Dire Whale's firing arc.
