Okay. I really, really like all the energy that's been put into making it *feel* very Solaris. I like the new mech bay changes because pretty mechs are pretty and deserve to be fawned over. The maps look good for Solaris, the setting itself gets full props. Map selection method? Also amazing.
I also really like that Chris made it clear that yeah, the Divisions are just sort of 'this is about what we can estimate approximately without actually having a lot of Solaris data to go on'. That makes me feel good given that my primary criticism is that the breakup of Divisions is.... yeah. However no matter what at some point you've got to just let it go and see what happens.
I'm not sure what people expect from a gladiatorial arena environment - yes, it's all going to be brawl based. Better aim and better mech design is going to be the deciding factor by a huge margin. Without question even a small advantage in player skill and effort and even a small advantage in better mech design will decide matches 9 times in 10.
Not kidding the Duncan Fisher audio, the nicely done maps and setting plus the foundation stuff of sponsors and patrons has me optimistic. I think the bulk of players in MWO are really not ready for the much, much higher skill and mech build requirements for success than they're used to.
However I'm pretty happy and excited about it. I like that Chris showed up and made it clear that Division rankings are a work in progress. I think Solaris opens up a whole new range of things for people to complain about. I'm a little.... well, bitter I guess is the word, that Solaris has gotten a lot of great attention to detail and the setting/envrionment stuff that Faction Warfare didn't.
Ah well. Live and learn. As to my fellow forum warriors, I look forward to farming the holy living **** out of each and every one of you.
We're going to need a 'don't take it personally' trash talk section of the forums for Solaris. You can't have this sort of setting and NOT have a way for us to poke each other over the results of matches. There's a reason sporting events go on tour and have the competitors trashtalking. It's part of the fun.
