Loading into the Mechbay is maybe the worst waiting time for me, as I'm forced basically to wait for anything to happen.
This I attribute to all the online features that need to load and update, as well as the players inventory that needs to be loaded every time you exit a match.

PGI even acknowledged that load times might increase again when Solaris goes live (even more ladders and inventory to keep track of).

Quote

Home Lobby Load Times
As MechWarrior Online continues to grow with the additions of the Solaris feature and the new Bolt-On items, we are aware that you may experience some longer load times into the Home lobby.

Seeing NGNG about Solaris update this occurred to me once again.

I wondered if Sean was having shorter load times, and lo and behold, I could've gone and get a coffee in the time the load circle turned and turned and turned (and then froze for a moment).

In my mind there could be 3 possible solutions, that in theory could even be combined, but every one of them would make a difference on its own.

1) Loading only when something changed
- on the first log in the inventor would be loaded like always

- have the inventory load only when something major changed like mech loadouts and the inventory besides MC, C-Bills and XP (which would be loaded aside from the rest of the inventory).

-further splitting the stuff that needs to load would be appreciated, though obviously more work, like only mech load-outs if something changed, but not ladders.

- or an option to not load a ladder when exiting a match, and only when I actually want to look at it.

2)
- start to load everything at the end of rounds screen

- basically the game could start to load all it needs (or at least some) once the end of rounds screen is appearing, before the player even clicks on the exit button.

3)
- have a simple Posted Image button on the end of rounds screen, like next to the exit button

-I`m sure players don't mind dropping in the same mech a few times, having this function would speed up the process by obviously not returning into the mechlab at all
- in group play the group leader would have this option only obviously

Same here! This game has been acting like this for months up to maybe even a Year. I have an AMD CPU & GTX750 video card that mets the recommended system requirements to run MWO.

There has been times when I exit a match after dying, I set AFK to go take a piss down the hall, piss and come back 3 mins later and this ******* game is STILL *LOADING.... waiting for the ******* mechlab to show up.

And even then once you see a few pics your mechs list, it takes another 20-30 secs before you can even move the cursor over anything to select crap on the U.I.

Other games I play dont behave like this, just ******* PGI's MWO!

I think system requirements and existing system performance mean jack sh1t for loading times into the Mech Bay. I am running a 5.2 GHz i7 7700k on 32 GB RAM @3200 MHz, 1 TB m.2 SSD and a GTX 1080 Ti and have a 150 Mbps ISP) and I have the same amount of waiting time as you have. It has probably a lot to do what information it is pulling together from all kinds of sources (Tier, chats, friendslist, possible injections, xp's, cbills etc. etc. you get the drift). But let's see wether Sean Langs "waiting" time was a promise of the things to come or just the result of the small population on the test servers.

ya that`s my guess
so I wanted to

- either avoid the loading process (find new match)

- optimize when (in the background at the end of the match)

- or how (maybe not all the things) MWO loads the data

btw
my system uses a 7600K @5.2Ghz and an M2 (Samsung) drive as well, RAM is at 3200 as well
and the loading circle of doom is maybe my major annoyance

and Seans load times where not great at all
it immediately reminded me of how bad load times are

now that you mention it., I would've expected the loading to be faster considering there would be less users obviously using that test build
something rather unoptimized in how they load everything I guess

This is what I would like to see. More action less load time.

I came to suggest just this. I'd use it all the time on Solaris 7 as well as QP. But particularly for Solaris 7 it would be vital. Solaris 7 fight loads pretty fast but loading back into home lobby screen takes so long and it's poinless since I want to play another game with same mech anyway.

Frankly considering the simplicity it's funny it's not ingame yet.

I haven't had a chance to test Solaris myself (nightshift) but I guessed the small-ish levels and only few mechs would load faster than getting into the mechbay :D

To clarify, he did not claim load times were already improved. He rather said that waiting times _are_ an issue right now, they are looking into it (probably going for some caching mechanism) but for the time being you just have to bear with it.

Personally i think they are really putting a high priority on that point, i just hope that some solution is feasible without ripping half the code base apart (which would make a fast solution impossible). But with all the effort for S7 you can not push a release date back unless it breaks the whole client, you bite the bullet and hope the userbase will forgive you if you get a solution out fast enough.

And with that said, dear PGI ... the clock is ticking ... no pressure ;-)

Ya when I saw the load time today I was a bit annoyed. There is way too much loading in this game. Load into mechbay, match finding(consider it loading since you can't do anything), waiting for people to load into games, waiting for the match to load (animation at start). Then you do it over again. Spend more time loading than playing sometimes.

I liked the idea of loading only what you need or what you are looking at.

This game is fun but the optimization is really, REALLY GARBAGE TRASH CANCER...

So, I don't have a lot of mechs.

I do have just about 100. My load times are roughly 27 seconds from the time i hit exit to the time i'm back in the bay.

Yep same issue for me the loading times are abysmal for loading back into the mechbay, this really needs to be looked at and optimised.

When you spend more time waiting than actually playing, that's when you begin seriously thinking about what else you'd be doing, watching, playing or the like.

I'm at the point where I came back to the game just some weeks ago and the performance has gone so heavily to pot (WHY does the in-match UI occupy about a third of my performance on its own........?) and the waiting times are so insufferably long I'm just about ready to excuse myself from the first reasonably sized unit of local players I finally joined up with and look at playing a different game altogether.

Lord knows I've no shortage of games in my Steam library which have yet to even be downloaded for the first time...

At least remove the popup cache status screen that mean nothing to most people ! Clicking this stuff after waiting is far worse than waiting...
