That's just another unfinished aspect of Solaris. Bolt ons? Only a few select mechs. Divisions? We'll fix them later. Voice lines? Why hire an actor for a couple days and finish it in one go when you can piss around with it for months.
Let's rebrand around a half-assed patch.
IF the release in this state was actually intentional, then it's actually a good long term move.
It could be that PGI has come to realize their interpretation of our stated wants for this game always results in multiple revisions until a compromise between the "difficulty of programming" (ie: My constant haranguing them about just how hard programming is [queue tear rolling down cheek]), and what we effectively communicate what we want out of the game, required a new release methodology.
It of course starts with the "minimally viable" product, and then based on feedback from the players and what I hope is some fairly significant spreadsheet analysis, they make changes and add features.
So spending a few days and recording 24 hours worth of dialog, much of which may end up obsolete or nonsensical would be inefficient.
Release something that works that has the bare bones of what you believe your customers have been asking for, and then flesh it out as you receive feedback.
Anyway, as frustrated as I have quickly become at it in its current state, I'm interested to see what next month brings.
