Sadly, there's really no saving this thing without insane armor quirks. It's like a huge Cicada, and the Cicada has some of the worst hitboxes in the game. Legs constantly falling off, no ability to shield realistically from any angle. Just torsos and legs, all ready for the killing... ugh.

I tried to rename mine to suit the required playstyle, but "Direct, intense, unflinching eye contact" wouldn't fit.

Maybe "Staredown" would work?

its unfortunate. They should make it big but a smaller ct with anhialater quirks+ extra armor. Not as tall as an annihilator but maybe as big as an atlas

At the same time, if the CT hitbox was removed from the "physical STs", would it turn into an easy to ST nightmare?
I take back what I said earlier about this mech obviously being easy to ST kill, PGI obviously did a great job with hitboxes to correct that. I do still wish the ST width to depth ratio was 1:2 instead of 1:1. This would have respected the original Battletech art, reduced the diameter of the circles by 30%, and made the CT protrude only to the cockpit ridge-line. The exposed surface area to damage would have gone down for both the ST and CT as a result...
I'll wait for my experts to say whether it's viable in combat or not, if so I'll buy it.

No offense to everyones opinions here in the thread but based on past experience, one tiny thread griping about a problem tends to just be a place to collect the small minority of player that have a gripe about one aspect of the mech or even those player that were pre-disposed to the idea the mech was going to be bad. Typically if there is a real issue, there would be 4-5 thread going, all full blaze.
Also not seeing any complaint threads about it being OP either so my guess if that in the grand scheme, the Fafnir is actually just plain old average which is going to disappoint alot of people who were hoping for an another Annihilator or maybe even a pre-nerf KDK-3 for the IS side of things. Of course this disappoints me as well to be honest since an average mech isn't worth spending real cash on. Unless something comes to light over the next few days, I guess it will be waiting to C-bills before I pick up a Faf.

I don't think dropping the last 6 armor from my rear will make a difference.
