Solaris is great.

That is not all.

Typical match: Some freebirth scum in a _________________ assault armed with massive ballistics comes out and heads straight to his adversary, pitches down and shoots at the adversary's legs (leg sweeping). Match over. While he is collecting his CBills, that freebirth is heard saying he is a merc and that's what mercs do.

He had no honor. None for himself. None for the games!

Should the "champion" who, repeatedly wins only by sweeping the legs of his opponent, be given any Seat of Honor?

Role playing aside, how about introducing some code that sums up the number of matches won in the last 24-hour cycle by leg sweeping.... that's a report some high end sponsors might find cause to drop a pilot where the low end sponsors might not.

And now back to leg sweeper's anonymous....

if you are taking a mech with weak legs, you need to stay low and cover your legs better. if you are stripping your legs for more firepower you need to consider that you cant use that firepower if you dont have any legs.

as for me im going to go for the weakest point i know on your chassis. if that happens to be your legs, you are going to loose them. on a mech with a weak st or ct im going for that. asymmetric build im going for the side with the guns. if i think you are running xl, im going to prefer st over ct. and if you shut down in front of me, im going for a head shot. know your enemy, and know your own mech. leverage its strong points while minimizing risk to its weak points.

There was a time when 81 HP of leg armor was not weak!
There was a time when assault pilots fought with honor!
Freebirth scum would have you believe those days are gone!

Honestly, I've played a dozen games so far in scattered tiers, and not one has turned into legging yet... I'm sure that's mostly luck, but it's nice... I just won't be the one to start the legging.

Fight as dirty and brutally as possible. No room for "honour" and "dignity" here. Just go in, tear your foe apart, and collect your paycheck while the crowd jeers at the bloody remains.

i'm not a 1v1 expert or anything, but i haven't found legging to be such a dominant strategy that i default to it every time. it depends on the match up, but going for CT or taking out weapons seems just as effective if not more so in a lot of cases.

There is a huge amount of beginner MMA fights won by leg kicks. Did they ban leg kicks in the rules? No.
However there is a minimal amount of wins by leg kicks in the top tier MMA game.
Why?
Because they know by then how to f**ing move.

Pentuple armor on all sections, remove all weapons on but small lasers, cap speed at 42 km. the only sensible answer.

So.. I get a Solaris match with a PIr...; he just runs in and facehugs my legs.. Learning the hell in the possible matchups, adjust the skill build to MAX pitch.. and he just sticks onto my legs and I cannot even gain a lock at max down pitch even if i loaded Streaks.

If thats how one considers a mech to be worthy of a division, then pirs should be division 1 as well and a bane to all existence of solaris...

Edit: A cipher nearly facehugged me again, thank god he was looking the wrong way while I cowered behind a box.

Im fine about the idea of blowing my back off and playing peekaboo with lights, but to have pirs literally hopping 'onto' your legs and biting you to death while you just wait to die since he sticks into your legs at 140kph -Maybe this is PGI's sick concept of a fun solaris match I guess...

Rating for "leg sweeps" only? Meh!

I'd rather have a "Skulduggery" rating to aim for. <maniacal Posted Image Posted Image Posted Image>

DISCLAIMER: I HAVE NOT TAKEN PART IN SOLARIS 7 MATCHES YET AND AS OF NOW, HAVE NO HORSE IN THIS RACE.

That being said, what if destroying one leg produces the effect we all know now but destroying the second simply further cripples the mech instead? At that point you're barely moving at all and are as good as dead.( if your ammo didn't blow up ) but it's not what lost you the match per say...

Then again, if I end up in a match where my opponent has 50 tons on me and I happen to notice he "skipped leg day" you bet I'll be aiming for those. Should it win me the match ? I assume there would be times where I wish it did and others where I would feel it unnecessary...

Meh, I'd love a solaris division for stock mechs anyway.

Haha, wont make any difference to be frank.. That bugger will just start eating ur torso while attached to your legs or something. The very least the division selection criteria should be having every mech being actually able to reach their targets without a free meal. The only way I managed to win against a pir is to cower in the corner somewhere and hope he shows me his *** instead. Every other match had me wanting to jump out of the cockpit and clobber him with my bare fists while he ate my legs for lunch.

Talking bout that, it should be fair the size of assaults should send pirs flying face down on collision.. then we can stomp them to death as an assault... lol

A piece of advice:

The CT has nearly half the HP of both legs

May I suggest drilling his CT instead?
Or remove a particularly fragile firepower containing piece for even less effort (IE, Jager arm+MGs) to strip their DPS in half

For highly mobile mechs, the legs are the thing which are the hardest to protect and twist, making them take more relative damage (no damage is spread to different torsos, front left leg=left left leg), which can make them a more popular target...but if your opponent is being Potato, just go for their CT if they're staring

I got a few headshots while doing that, hilariously
