The Devastator, which has been hinted at twice in the ISN news feeds, is a 100 ton assault mech sporting dual PPCs and Gauss Rifles as well as an array of medium lasers.

For some odd reasons I never managed to take this Mech serious.

Quintessential assault mech, Atlas doesn't stand a chance.

The Awesome already fills the long-range gunboat role really well, as does the Stalker to only a slightly lesser degree. I predict we'll see Something Completely DifferentTM.

I'm thinking maybe a Victor or Highlander for brawling potential.

Though, the Devastator has only two timeline-appropriate variants - the DVS-1D (3036) and the DVS-2 (3048).
And those compose two-thirds of its total number of not-one-off canon variants.

Even the Banshee has greater number of timeline-appropriate variants (six, actually), as do the Cyclops (five) and the Zeus (also five).

Sure, the both the DVS-1D and the DVS-2 are nice 'Mechs that I would also like to see included eventually, but from a variation standpoint there are other 'Mechs (such those named above) that would arguably be better choices for at-launch inclusion.

I always thought the should have renamed it the "PNH-1D PINHEAD". Because that mech has to be 30 meters tall to fit a pilot in that tiny thing.

The armament is nice, and the armor, but honestly there are scads of Assault mechs I would prefer to see first, like the Victor, Banshee-S, or Charger. I would not mind seeing it eventually, it is just a low priority for me.

Not to mention it's recent date of actual production in the DVS-2 series meeans that the Mech is even rarer than Annihilators, Maulers or Hatamoto-Chis (the last of which had been mass produced since the War of 3039, in at least 4 variants).

So if those 3 are too faction specific and rare, then the Devastator would be doubly so.

Ummm no, the devastor will be WAAAAAY to OP for the stock right off the bat lol, at long range it WILL beat 2 Awesomes at once if they are equal skilled pilots all around. A mech that has 2 GR, 2 PPC and 4 ML and has preety good heat managment should not be allowed in right away. A king crab yes because it has the disadvange of range but this thing...

Edit, that doesent mean i dont want it in the game of course  its just SL tech vs 3025 tech.

It gets mentioned quite a bit, actually. But that pesky Unseen legal battle with Harmony Gold kinda minimizes the chance of any recognizable version actually being in the game.

UrbanMech, end of story.

Because... face it, if someone's driving an UrbanMech... at least 1 person on the battlefield is going to die.

But Devestator is pretty cool... massive, expensive, and powerful. I'm sure it will drive many MechWarriors gleefully broke :-p

Well sarna seems to have some info, they have a list of confirmed mechs in their MWO page.

http://www.sarna.net...hWarrior_Online

Not sure of the accuracy of it obviously but it may be true.

The problem is balance, introducing some mechs could massively throw it and in a F2P game balance can be hard enough to maintain.
