Some of them will evole into the new {Godwin's Law} and speech and think control is already pretty far on the restricitve side.
Freedom of Speech is the freedom to say and express things that hurt others feelings - if People can not stand that they must stay at home and never open the door!
People in position of might are mighty People - they stop being man, woman or whatever they feel to be bcs might has some moght mechanics that no gender, no character, no good will can overcome.
So there is no Patriarchy, no Matriarchy, no ...archy whatsoever that can do it better as it is already done - they can only become worse than this Imperfect Democracys we pretend to have where you can at least every 4 to 5 years blame someone else for the shortcoming of your Country and simply send them away instead of killing them.
That alone is such a huge civilisatoric advancement we can really be proud of!
The same time it is a big sharade but well, mankinds Society is Based on Lies not on truths bcs truth hurts and not only dont people want to be hurt but truth is also different for each and every individual...
Enjoy the good times as long as they roll on!

After the first couple of missions (which effectively the tutorial is technically going longer than you think), the game stops funneling you through what's effectively the only path.
As soon as it stops, and you'll know when it stops, do NOT TAKE THE OBVIOUS PATH!!!!
Oh man I did that and I was so screwed. I also tried splitting up which can work, but if one of those routes is the obvious path you're ******! But after a few different tries I found a route that let me get right up to damn near next to the turret generator before I got detected. None of the turrets could do jack initially and the spiders were easy to deal with on their own. From there, a blat blat and the gen goes boom. Instead of using the obvious path again, I took advantage of the jets and made my own path, allowing me not only the high ground, but to take out the enemies one at a time from a safe height at which they could barely return fire. And then boom. Sadly, I kinda already knew how the mission ends so I prepped for it and ....they have it set so that you can't trigger it until all units are basically trapped and screwed.
So I duked it out and then realized after all that fighting and losing one... that I was standing RIGHT NEXT to another goddamn generator that would have turned the fight into a very easy one in a single turn. Ah well.
So lessons learned:
DO NOT USE THE OBVIOUS PATH.
And... Check your buildings.
Oh btw, you can knock down a turret tower and destroy the turret by running through the building. Not sure if this is intended, but... it works. The turret glitched by registering as a target, but it couldn't do anything, didn't have a turn and it counted as destroyed in terms of objectives at the end.

I have noticed that for SOME reason... it has joystick commands mapped. Not sure why anyone would want to play it with a joystick, but my daughter discovered that there's abutton mapped to hide the HUD, which is NOT mapped on the keyboard as far as I can tell (I hit every single key). So keep controllers out of the reach of children to avoid some frustration.
Strangely, the game will do all playable functions without the hud.
....Everything from menus to giving commands, etc. You can do it all with the HUD off. Which makes trying to get it back that much more frustrating, but could be great if a player familiar enough with the game decided to do a lets play with no HUD.
This flat out removes the whole visual user interface, though.

My game has never crashed. The menus are terrible tho. Painful.
Game loves to cheat you on salvage.

...and I think I have my next game of the year. I've seen a lot of complaints about the in-mission pacing, but the only complaints I could come up with was that the angle of the chase camera was set too low (I had to disable it to keep it from clipping through terrain, objects, 'Mechs...) and headshots seem to happen way more often than they probably should. My Shadowhawk pilot kept getting smacked in the face the first time she came under fire, every mission she dropped in, so that she was then down and out for the next drop at least. I ended up having to hire two spare pilots right off the bat just because of headshots. If this were a different game- maybe Wasteland 2 or one of the Fallouts- I'd have been tempted to think I picked one of the "unlucky" traits by accident in character creation.
Speaking of character creation, I'm over the moon for that. It is a little light on the visual options, yes, but I loved the slect-your-own-fluff bits. There were very nearly tears of manly joy when I discovered that, yes, there is finally a PC Battletech game that lets me RP a 'Mechwarrior with Taurian heritage! Or Canopian. I think there may have been another Periphery option in there too. But, still- the day of the Periphery has finally come. The whole bloody story is based around the Periphery! Suck it, Inner Sphere! We finally got one, d'you hear?! This one is ours, you filthy buggers! Ours!
...ahem. But anyway.
The combat, apart from that one little issue with headshots (which might just be me running afoul of RNG, as has been known to happen), feels bang on perfect. The sounds, the impacts, the bits and pieces flying everywhere... mmm. And melee combat! This game is going to be so much fun if someone adds a Hatchetman to it. The interface was simple enough that I never once felt like I needed a tutorial, and it did the right thing and got out of the way when fun things were happening on screen. I could do without the "Your turn!" splash screens, though. An alert bar up top by the initiative indicators would have been fine for that.
*edit- and one more thing: the environments have the correct heat penalties. Maps set on moons with no atmosphere result in 'Mechs running hotter, not cooler. I cannot express how much that has been bothering me in every other game on the face of the damned planet. Looking at you, HPG. See this game? This is what it looks like when people understand thermodynamics.
No technical issues so far other than a tiny bit of chugging when I killed that first heavy 'Mech, because I pumped a particularly voluminous missile-based alpha strike into it and knocked off just about every component at the same time. No crashes or loading time issues (and it's not even on my SSD right now).
Definitely a winner in my book. May it live long and get many, many expansions.

The story missions are mostly excellent.
There is one mission pretty far along that has you return to Panzyr to defend some stuff and food for the locals. You have to drop a Jenner or Firestarter (with no real reason to do so) and start sprinting to "left" toward the barracks. Ignore enemy mechs and targets and just sprint that way with no reason to do so - because 2 rounds later suddenly you have to have a mech there or you fail a mission objective. Non-critical but still. Nothing else will get there in time and there's no way to know you needed to bit otherwise missions are amazing.
The main story advances stuff and makes more content available. There's no reason not to other than farming mechs.
Speaking of which....
Jag with 3x AC5 and a lot with near max Tactics and Gunnery. Hold actions until after your target has moved. Precision Shot at his leg. He falls down and your whole team gets free called shots on CT or his other leg. BOOM. Freebie!
AC5s on everything for days.

Quick question. Are there any non-one shot higher end ACs?
All I've found so far are basically Mech Rifles and it really irks me... Yes when they hit its a great punch, but the whole idea of autocannons from the lore is that you're still gonna hit SOMETHING even if most of your shots miss, making the ammo spent to do something even if most of it misses when you deliberately fire at low chance to "hit"... Which was great in the beta because the ACs always did something to the enemy. 10% chance to hit? Still hit ya, sucker!
Because right now... 80% chance to hit.
Miss.
95% chance to hit.
Somehow managed to miss!!!
But so far...bleh.

Yes! Depends on manufacturer. The Kaliyama AC20 on my Dragon is single shot. I've got a ++ AC2 on a Shad that shoots 3 rounds. Not at home so I can't check but different manufacturers have ACs that work different.
Its.... It's like the lore. So much <3.

The galaxy map is quite big, seems like there are many stars outside the small area the story has been in so far. You can travel if you choose to

It is...but maybe not.
Kali-Yama's Big Bore AC/20 is only 120mm... Maybe its a different one. But the largest caliber AC/5 in the lore pumping out 3 shells to net five damage at 120mm... makes me wonder. (Meanwhile, Hunchbacks before 303x that still had their original AC/20 has a 180mm Tomodzuru Mount Type 20.. so what would the BT PC do for it, make it do 40 damage? Granted, that gun is becoming extinct and is extinct by 3050... but still....
But I do get that they want these to also be somewhat practical (as sometimes you could spam blast after blast, and either damage was so scattered it was kinda worthless, or it'd net a random headshot after random headshot after random headshot in the beta.)
Like MW5 Mercs, I feel like I'll be getting into some modding to net a true Battletech experience. But this said, the game is pretty good if you haven't spent too much time trying to math out the weapons from the fluff.

I was going to also say that if you can avoid the story, you can avoid the ending of the game as well which might be someones aim. I haven't picked up the game yet but does anyone know if you can just continue to play even after you "beat" the game?
