Now that Battletech has been out for a while I'm curious as to what builds people are using.
Below is my current favorite build. It's a Grasshopper GHR-5H that I salvaged after despensing swift justice on a war criminal.
I call it the Crit Hopper....

Nice build, will have to try that!
My favourite (even late game) is a FireStarter loaded to the gills with flamers and a Leg++ mod for reduced DFA damage. A decent cockpit pilot injury prevention module is handy too, and a gyro++ with reduced hit chance.
With the jump distance on the FIreStarter, you can pretty much DFA from the last map you played on.
My commander drives one. I named him AAAAAAAAH, as first contact with my lance is inevitably followed up by a screaming light mech to the face of the first enemy he sees. It's surprisingly effective. Pair it with the piloting skill that lets you move after firing, and you have a fantastic shutdown mech.
Make contact, identify a suitable target, MECH TO THE FAAAAACE, set them on fire the next turn, then JJ backwards with your patented FireStarter double flip-off.
Also, if you reserve a light mech until the last turn, you get to move again pretty much straight away next go
I managed to capture my first assault with it - a battlemaster - with a DFA headshot.

I have two that I really like thus far...
1. Mini version of your Grasshopper with a Firestarter... 2x Medium Laser, 6x MG w/2 tons and 5x JJ.
2. Mini Victor... Centurion with AC/20, 2x Medium Laser and 4x JJ
Really enjoying the game! I rate it a solid A.

My grasshopper runs 6 ML 1 LL, 4 JJ, and all the heat sinks I can fit in it. Can alpha 3-4 times no problem, and after resting for one turn basically has no heat. Almost all my other mechs I remove the JJ but there have been a few times that the JJ have saved me with a DOA or leaping to an objective. I named it "Medusa" after the pilot who has been in it since day 1.

My favorite and most successful 'Mech so far, honestly and without exaggeration, has been the starter Blackjack. I pulled off two jets to add some armor, and swapped out the stock AC/2s for + and ++ variants, but otherwise it's the same machine, and still my Commander's preferred ride. It's a useful little bugger and I'm going to be sad when I finally have to swap it out for something else.

As much as I enjoy tweaking new builds in BT, this thread should be in Battletech® forums, not here. https://mwomercs.com...%AE-discussion/

But general discussion is for everything! Remember when the mods tried to lock it all down by removing general? It was ANARCHY! Nobody noticed anything! The forums were a desolate wasteland!
General is the dumping ground, Kaetetôã is the toilet.
